We dined in the bar at the Portside on a weekday in November, and it was quite good. The service was good, and the food was excellent. I had a fresh caught Dungeness Crab Louie, and it was the best I've ever had. Crab season was open and active, and the Charleston fishing fleet was bringing in lots of fresh... More

My friends took my family and I to the Portside when we visited and we were definitely not disappointed. Our waitress, Tara, was very helpful and knowledgable about the menu and even directed us to a few wines we may not have otherwise have tried. The ling cod was cooked to perfection and tasted exactly like what we were told..."whole... More

I stayed at the Plainview Motel and this resturant is very close. When the weather is good sit outside and overlook the slough. The seafood is always good as is the service. I miss the buffet they used to have.

We had reservations for our large group and just prior to our arrival another large group were seated. The restaurant owner or manager was a real jerk yelling at the cooks and the wait staff. We didn't have a problem waiting at all but we did have a problem with the food and the owner.

While staying in Coos Bay my husband and I stopped at this restaurant in Charleston Marina area. We were seated next to the window. Only two tables taken when we were seated therefore we should have gotten good service. The waitress was busy doing things behind the bar. Only one person came into the bar and got a drink but... Portside has lost it's luster a little bit over the years (still really good) but the sushi place located in the NW corner of the building is excellent. I didn't get a chance to try their sashimi but the three different sushi rolls we ordered were fresh and tasty with excellent presentation.

We ate here recently. Sat by the bay and watched families clamming. I had scallops in cream sauce. They were different from the preparation of most scallop dishes. My husband had breaded fried crab legs. The crab breading was too thick and covered up the taste of the crab. The scallops lacked a good glaze which would have improved combination... More

Slightly dated, but nice, classic seafood restaurant with big window views of the harbor. Candlelit table in the evening. About a 10-15 minute drive from Hwy 101 hotel. Went for seafood around 8pm (oddly many restaurants were closed by 8pm on Saturday in this area), pleased with what we ordered and received. Staff was very friendly, especially our waitress who... So delicious! Fresh food, good service, wonderful views. I definitely would recommend. We had the seafood pasta, scallop and prawn Cajun pasta, and Cajun blackened halibut. All of it tasty. Nothing remained.
