Delicious!

The crabcakes here are the best we've ever had. This is such a charming, tucked away, little restaurant ... so happy we found it. Sweet Basil's has a Thursday night special for 2 people: share an appetizer, soup/salad, entree and dessert plus a bottle of wine..all for $59..and we could order anything we wanted off the regular menu! The food was extra special and delicious. Our appetizer of prawns was not just the typical prawns with cocktail sauce but rather prawns and sliced bananas... More

We took advantage of a special night in Cannon Beach to celebrate Mardi Gras. Live music, étouffée, jambalaya, topped off with flaming Bananas Foster. (There were lots of other choices we didn't get to sample.) It was our first visit to Sweet Basil's Cafe, but it won't be our last. But we probably won't be there again on a Tuesday... More

I visit often and have asked John to cater for my gallery events. I'm always happy to recommend Sweet Basil's to out of town guests and visitors in my gallery. I know that they will enjoy the great food and friendly welcoming atmosphere.

This tiny little restaurant down a quiet little alley serves up some of the best food in the state of Oregon. With a live band and a wonderful bottle of wine, it made our trip memorable and will be coming back

What a hidden little gem! Great live music and fresh house made food and wonderful wine selection. Such a homey fun place and a nice treat while on a beach break! Love the tapa options and cheese plate was a nice start to even better offerings. I will be back

Went for Marti gras last year and other times because we love it. The food is fantastic, the music was great and it was a lot of fun! Just wish the place was a bit bigger!

We've been coming to John's Sweet Basil's for years and will continue to do so for both eat in and take out. In the summer it's a perfect place to dine outside. I always like that there's such a mix of folks dining and really enjoying their time here, families, young and old and in between like us. We love... More

When ever we go to Cannon Beach we stop at Sweet Basil's Cafe for lunch. My wife and I are vegans and there is plenty of vegan choices. The food is always very good. The soup is always excellent. It is a small restaurant and when they busy their can be bit of wait for the food. John Sowa, the... More

Have been to SBs about ten times -- fewer than the number of visits to New Orleans. John Sowa's cooking absolutely measures up. Etoufee, Shrimp Creole, Gumbo, Jambalaya are all very tasty. The flavors kind of burst out. Also worth considering is a wonderful (non-Cajun) pork shank over cheesy polenta. Massive portion, super tender. This is certainly as good as... More
