This is our second visit here. We meet some people that regularly come to this restaurant and considered it a hidden jewel in Cannon Beach. However, our food was good. Our service was definitely off. Our server asked if we wanted pepper with our soup but never brought it and never remembered and never checked on except after we were... More

My wife and I had dinner here last night and we were blown away by how good the food was. The night before we tried a different Trip Advisor top 10 restaurant in Cannon Beach and it was really disappointing so we didn't expect much from Newmans and we were pleasantly surprised. All of our dishes were excellent - foie... More

Reservations are a must at this chef/owner (John Newman) restaurant. The lobster ravioli was hands down the best I have ever eaten. Small downstairs broken into two rooms with upstairs dining room accessed only from outside the building. This building was a private home previously so room set-up is obvious. Not for children. Suitable for couples and small parties.

Every item on the menu - printed or specials - are creatively and expertly prepared. The service is attentive, but not intrusive. The venue is quaint, but small and, therefore, can be noisy, especially on the second floor. Always ask for a table by a window, particularly, again, on the second floor. Reservations needed days in advance.

Newman's is easy to drive by, but that would be a mistake. Warm greetings, fine wine list (glass and bottle), a menu that varies but has ample choices without overwhelming, and an excellent meal. Service was good; not speedy when it's busy, but attentive. This is not a place to dine if you're in a hurry (that's not a bad... More

There is EVERYTHING to like about Newmans at 988. Don't be deterred by the exterior. This is fine dining!Hubby and I shared a wilted romaine salad and appetizer of lobster ravioli that was outstanding. Too often lobster is presented with too richness of a sauce; not here! Perfectly executed and beautifully presented. Hubby was very pleased with his seafood dish,... More

Excellent seafood. Although they do have other things on the menu. Our group of 6 had either the Scallops, or the Shrimp and were all extremely satisfied. Prices a tad high but reasonable for the quality. We brought our own wine so did not get to look at the wine list. Sorry. Also did not get dessert. Must make a... More

Upon reading other reviews we made reservations which was highly recommended as they book up quickly. We were not disappointed, it is a small intimate restaurant with great service and food. We were seated upstairs and it was very nice because it was quite and it felt like we had our own personal wait staff shared with only 2 other... More
