The Metolious River rises right out of the ground, amazing. Camp Sherman is a historical resort/Summer home/cabin/campground area there. Neat General Store. But you wouldn't expect a fancy restaurant there. Only serves dinner but quite a dinner it is, not cheap but good. We made reservations and had an early seating on a Sunday evening, not many folks but that... More

It was surprising to find this nice restaurant out in the middle of nowhere, and it was far nicer than most of its surroundings! The food and service were excellent with very friendly and helpful waitstaff. It is also a beautiful drive, about 45 minutes from Redmond, so the distance traveled is pleasant.

Last night, my wife and I decided to go out for dinner to a restaurant about which we had heard positive reviews: Kokanee Cafe. A slight hurdle is that there is a thirty mile drive to Camp Sherman from Bend, however we were eager to try it, and we are so glad that we did. Every aspect of the meal met... More

We always loved the Kokanee Cafe. This time not so much. You can't beat the location-- gorgeous Camp Sherman nestled along the beautiful Metolius River-- but to us the food quality has gone down and the prices way up. We started with their house salad. It was decent but I've had better. Neither one of us liked the bacon in... More

I've given one 5-star rating out of dozens of restaurant reviews, and this is it. Kokanee Café is top-notch food, top-notch setting, top-notch service...and worth-it pricey. It's out of the way, in a rustic corner of central Oregon, at the base of Black Butte and within a rock's throw of the Metolius River. If you're staying in Sisters or Black... More

We had 6:45 dinner reservations to celebrate our friend’s birthday. She and her husband are locals with a home in Camp Sherman. We arrived on time, only to be told that the restaurant was overbooked with a wedding party. It was obvious the restaurant had jammed extra tables into the small dining room. We were told our only option was... More

we use to think of the Kokanee as our local gold standard. Not sure where these negative reviews came from. I can't pick between the top three or four fine dinning places in Sisters country, but the Kokanee is still right there. Four of us returned and had four great dinners. Wait staff was great and it was a very... More

The food was outstanding, but as soon as we did not order liquor, the waitress wrote us off. The service was very slow after that. We would have ordered desert, but since she took her time waiting on every table in the place, even though we were clearly finished, we decided not to get anything else. Too bad, the chef... More

My husband and I were eager to return to Kokanee Cafe remembering how exceptional it was on previous visits --the last one being four years ago. We just went again this weekend and were disappointed. We split the antipasto which had several items on the tray…the best being a tasty fritatta. The remaining morsels were sparse and aren't worth mentioning... More
