I lived in San Diego for many years and got used to having real good, authentic Mexican food readily available. When I moved to Brookings and started trying the Mexican restaurants in town, I was really disappointed at the "gringo" food that was being sold as Mexican. Until we tried Rancho! The staff is very friendly and the food is... More

This restaurant was recommended by motel we checked into. Wanted to walk and it was right across highway. One of the best Mexican restaurants we have eaten and being from NM we have been in a lot. I ordered a taco salad with shredded beef--I have never seen as much meat plus it was wonderfully seasoned. My husband, a burrito... More

i have to admit, the staff is super friendly and attentive. and the chips and salsa were okay. but the meal...we weren't that crazy about it. i ordered a chicken tostado - the fresh lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole were not hot, as they should be, but the chicken and beans were not hot at all either, which... I make a trip to Rancho Viejo at least twice a month if not more. The staff at this restaurant are friendly, fast & extremely efficient. The food cooked and served to perfection. Large portions on very HOT plates so be careful. Fun place to take friends and family. Try Rancho Viejo...you won't be disappointed.

Their food was greasy. They handed me my tacos and I couldn't even pick one up because it was already soggy and falling apart. It was disgusting. Their beans also tasted like they were from a can, which is still better than beans with a ton of lard in them. My boyfriends meal was bland and didn't have much to... More

We arrived at 5:00 p.m. on Friday for an early dinner. There was salad on the floor under the table where we sat. Not sure why it wasn't cleaned up considering the place was dead. Food came out cold and I received the same corn tortillas that I buy at the store for my meal. I like those, but I... More

There are many Mexican restaurants between Crescent City and Brookings, but what sets Rancho Viejo apart is their Mexican Seafood. Great service and good prices.

We've eaten at Rancho Viejo about 10 times in the last few years. The food has usually been good and the service average. Last weekend, however, the service was absolutely horrible - actually almost non-existent! We were seated pretty quickly in one of their booths, not far from the entrance, below a very hot and bright hanging light fixture. The... More
