McKay Cottage is wonderful. It's where we always take out-of-town guests for breakfast to give them a real world taste of Bend. We have relatives who were considering moving to Bend, and then decided to really make it happen after experiencing the charms of McKay Cottage. True story!

It is rare to come across a restaurant that excels in all categories: ambience, service, presentation and quality of food, and variety of menu options. McKay Cottage Restaurant is one of those finds. Our only disappointment is that this restaurant is not open for dinner!

There are certain places we go to celebrate or just to know we'll enjoy the experience. McKay Cottage is one of those. The food is excellent, the service great, prices competitive, and the ambience truly unique. The only disadvantage is that all the locals know this, so it can be quite crowded, especially in the summer when the outdoor lawn... More

My wife and I had breakfast at the McKay Cottage on a weekday morning in mid-September while staying at Sunriver for two weeks, it was very busy. This was our first visit, but not the last by any means. The breakfast was outstanding along with the service and surroundings. Menu choices were very robust. This is a must do while... More

On the recommendation of a local friend my wife and I came here. This place is really hopping for breakfast, but it was worth the wait. Waitresses offered us coffee on the outside deck as we waited, which was nice on this brisk morning. The food was plentiful and very tasty. The homey atmosphere was pleasant and we will return... Housed in the historic home of a founder of Bend and an Oregon governor this homey place serves wonderful lunch and breakfast fare, True, one often has to wait for an open table, and the noise level can be quite high. Even so, the wide variety of original dishes makes it very popular during the morning and noontime hours it... More

I had the great pleasure of dining at McKay's cottage recently. I had been there for breakfast before but this time it was the noon hour so chose a meal other than breakfast food. I had their White Chili Bean soup....was superb! And,it was served with a fresh marionberry scone. The place is always crowded but well worth the wait.

The food is plentiful and delicious. In lovely weather it's fun to eat outside under large shade trees. Inside the McKay Cottage can be crowded and noisy so try to get a table by a window.

There's a reason why McKay's Cottage consistently ranks so highly in Bend. Wonderful ambience, great service, great and always good menu selections. Breakfast or lunch... can't go wrong.
