Comfy Huge solid breakfast with JT playing

I am a big fan of black bears. Awesome comfy vibe super friendly waitress Barbara. Wish the gravy had sausage for my huge Bigfoot chicken fried steak.

This restaurant is fun because the "Black Bear" theme starts outside with bear prints in the sidewalk and bear sculptures around the premises. Inside it continues with decor everywhere and even a gift shop! The menu is awesome (printed like a newspaper) and believe me when I say the portions are more than generous. I had a 3-egg omelet with... More

We had a late lunch here during the week, nice find. My wife had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, more than she could possibly eat. I had the California burger (hamburger with avocado) and cole slaw, again very large serving and very good quality food. The deserts looked very appetizing but unfortunately we were much too... What a neat idea that has spread from Shasta, CA. You MUST have a hardy appetite but do not feel bad if you have to ask for a "special take out box". If they say "Bear Size" it is NOT an understatement. Their homemade biscuit is to live for. Look for their specials and you will not be disappointed. They... More

Black Bear Diner is not far from my neighborhood, and I go there often. I enjoy the breakfast menu the most. My kids and I like the free juke-box that plays mostly 60s pop, quite a grand collection. The problem is, the volume is pretty low, and if they are busy, you can't hear the music.

Had breakfast, there were 5 of us and each plate was full. Had to get 2 To Go boxes. The omelets are large, as well as breakfast burritos. Pancakes & waffles good too. Prices are very reasonable.

As always, Black Bear Diner is the best. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The food is great with lots of choices, and the portions are hearty. Also love the little corner where I bought some cute little mugs.

Walking in we were greeted with a smile. It has a cozy and rustic feel, which is nice on one of those rainy Portland days. Meal was good and with generous portions. Since Oregon is known for hazelnut farms, I ordered the hazelnut pancakes and they were delicious. Great texture and not soggy. Very kid friendly.

Good setting, cook staff needs some training, food was ok. We both ordered the chicken pot pie. It was served to us lukewarm, we had to send it back, the replacements were hot. The chicken pot pies were mostly gravy. My wife's had some nice chicken chunks in it, but mine only had two quarter size bits of chicken. The... More
