Disappointing

My husband and I had dinner at the Wheelhouse May 26. It was very disappointing. My husband had a bowel of clam chowder which had a lot of fillers and starches. The salads were mostly sad looking iceberg lettuce with some previously frozen shrimp. My crab cakes very creasy and had to many fillers.

Quiet atmosphere! The menu may look a little pricy, but you receive a lot of food! We had calamari as an appetizer (very good). The blackened halibut was excellent! AND with the entrée you choose 3 sides.

A warm and comfortable haven from the windy waterfront for lunch. Good water views from most tables. Service was excellent... helpful, pleasant, attentive. Menu boasted good selection of seafood options. Ample portions. Large fresh dessert selection. Food ok, but not remarkable.

Whenever someone visits us, this is one of the places we take them. Everyone we've taken loves it. Amazing food. Everything I've had there is absolutely wonderful. Everyone loves their soups, chowder and house salad. Great place for an anniversary dinner or special occasion too. The only thing that could be improved was the service. It wasn't at all bad...... Crab Louie ($26) was on wilted (and brown) iceberg lettuce; there was a lot of it, but not well-cleaned. Crab cakes were average but the overcooked vegetables looked like something picked up from the beach. The crab was fresh; the clam chowder good with zero sand in it. I don't mind paying $80 for a meal for 2 if the... More

Dinner was disappointing for the price.- halibut had no sauce, mediocre steak and ok pan- fried oysters. Salad was weird with pineapple and bay shrimp. Appetizer of "stuffed" mushrooms were just deep fried. Best part of then dinner was the veggies on the side!

The building is old and interesting with nice visual ambiance. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was good, though not excellent, and priced appropriately,. There were many seafood choices on the menu, as well as some non-seafood choices. Many of them were unique creations. The reason it does not have 5 stars from me is because of the... More

My parents were severely delayed getting to town from Salem due to a fatal accident on the highway. As a result, they arrived in town after 8pm exhausted and hungry. Both are diabetic and needed to eat. They arrived at the Wheelhouse shortly before closing, and they graciously sat them, fed them, and not once were they rushed in their... More

I visit Bandon almost every year during my annual visit to Oregon, and I always stop for lunch here. The restaurant is small, so almost everyone has a window view to the port. During this last visit, they allowed me to request a special preparation for scallops without a hassle. It's a close walk to two stores for desserts, too!

Had an amazing family dinner at "The Wheelhouse", the staff were awesome, and the food was even better. The fish & Chips were enough for a small army. Very reasonable prices and fantastic food!
