Great Chicken Fried Steak!

We took a day trip to try out this restaurant and see this part of the country. The place was very busy at two pm. We had a very attentive waitress. The down home food is very good. I enjoyed everything I ate. I did take home the salad because I wanted some lemon meringue pie which was to... read more

Clanton's is a fantastic dining experience. Clanton's is the oldest family owned restaurant on historic Route 66 in Oklahoma, and we always see one of the current owners when we stop in. That's enough of a reason to stop, but the food adds another even greater draw. It is home cooking in a friendly atmosphere that makes you want to... More

We were told to stop here on our way west on Route 66. It was a great pit stop for a much needed meal. The place was crowded because it was near lunch time. That did not stop us from getting a table and our food quickly. I do believe they make the best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had!... More

Our Corvette club ventured to Vinita for the sole purpose of eating at Clanton's. It was worth the drive! The food was wonderful and the service exceptional for serving a large group. It is the only family owned restaurant still in existence on Route 66. They are well known for the chicken fried steak and all agreed it was exceptional... More

Just a mile off of I-44 in Vinita. Went by this stop many times. We stopped in at lunch on a Monday afternoon. Several choice I would have liked to try but went with the chicken fried steak diner. It was very good home style chicken fried steak. it came with mashed potatoes and two sides. Had the green beans... More

Went here based on a family member having seen that it had been on the TV show. Very underwhelming. I think this same diner exists in about every similarly-sized town in middle America. Large portions of food. Taste was just okay, nothing special. Have had much better fried _______ elsewhere. Service was really good - they were full, and yet... More

Ate here on a Friday night. Went in at about 6:30pm and it took a good while to squeeze in and then be seated. Seems everyone does the same thing on Friday nights. The reviews are all accurate - Chicken Fried Steaks and similar diner / Cafe items right up until when they run out of an item for the... More

It has been on the television show diners, dives, and drive ins from the food network. Try some calf fries or their chicken fried steak or home made chips.

It was 2:30 in the afternoon on Tuesday when we were going through town on our way home from a trip, had not eaten since breakfast. Even at mid afternoon this place was almost full. The service was good, the food was very good, and plenty of it. It is an old fashioned place where you pay at the counter... More

Clanton's is the local favorite for good reason. Catfish, chicken fried chicken sandwich, and chicken fried steak are all great options. The green beans, fried or steamed, are awesome. All kinds of pie for dessert.
