Loved: the very dry Hendricks martini - made just right; the pear and gouda salad (could eat it everyday). Liked: the mushroom fricassee -- noodles, cream and mushrooms. Very nicely done. Probably would not order again: the veggie risotto -- mostly veggies with some risotto, veggies a bit bitter. Next time: order a few small dishes and share an entree.

Our valentine's Day dinner did not disappoint! The lobster tail/steak duo was the best I have had in ages...well prepared! I love the size of the space and the European style banquette seating. A drink next door at the wine bar to start the evening and creme brulee to complete. Thank you for creating a restaurant we always enjoy!

Tried this restaurant tonight. I was the first one in the restaurant, so I cannot comment on the loudness. It is a small place with a bunch of tables. I would assume that it would be loud when it was full. I enjoyed the house salad with the mustard dressing. The salad was excellent and had olives in it. The... More

Food was very good along with the service. Small quaint space but a little loud when filled with patrons.

Thank you for your review, Leslie. We're glad you enjoyed your meal! We are aware of the issue that our restuarant can become loud at times. We are working to create a solution which will decrease the volume while preserving the historic building. Please visit us again! More

We returned to South Market Bistro a couple of nights during our stay in Wooster. The scallop and trout dishes were excellent, as was the house salad, but the star of the evening was tasting the Fig Cognac served either neat or as in a Fig Sidecar.

They offer a daily fish special and soup. Their menu fits the seasonal foods available, the food is prepared beautifully and they offer incredible service. I eat there everytime I go to Wooster and would recommend it to anyone.

The menu selection is broad, follows the seasons, and worth exploring. The duck trio and the pork chop dinners were both accompanied by braised cabbage, kale, and mashed sweet potatoes and were excellent. Among the drink choices is a Fig Sidecar, which is a house specialty and delightfully flavored. This is a fabulous restaurant with attentive service and extraordinary food.

If you are within 50 miles of Wooster and fail to eat here, you are poorer for the lack. With out a doubt Market Street Bistro is one of the best places to eat in the Buckeye State. I had Monkfish (something completely new to me) with pasta and lobster sauce... Lots of lobster in that sauce. If I had... More

The long-ish, rectangular room is simply and tastefully appointed: one long wall is a deep green, the other exposed brick. At the back of the space is the beautiful wood bar and a peek-through into the open kitchen. On a very busy Saturday night, Jayne and Alan Churchmark, with the support of three servers, ran the room with warm, relaxed,... More

Delicious Fall Menu! The squash soup hinted of maple-sugaring on cool days; the goat cheese crostini nestled with delicious temptation on a bed of greens; and the pecan encrusted Mahi-Mahi danced with smooth, buttery flavor next to the sweetest kale. However, the dessert too, left its mark: rich, velvety chocolate mousse with a hint of salted carmel; pumpkin cheesecake that married... More
