The Olde Jaol facility was built in 1865, and was claimed to be the finest sheriff facility of its kind. In 1977 the Wayne county sheriffs department was relocated across the street to a new facility. Subsequently, the old jail was registered as a historical landmark in 1980 and in 1995 The Olde Jaol Steakhouse / Tavern was given life. We have an excellent reputation for quality and service.Today, the Olde Jaol houses the finest in food and hospitality. We recommend our Certified Angus Beef® steak entrées. Only 8 percent of beef is tasty enough to meet the brand’s high standards. It’s simply the tastiest, juiciest, most tender beef you’ll ever have.

Very neat dining experience in an old jail!

We were out and about and decided to dine here based on the recommendation of my friend. Great wine, delicious steaks and finished off the dinner with lava cake. Yummy yummy yummy. Only negative was the service was pretty slow. It should not have taken two hours to be served our dinner. The... read more

great service willing to assist with the small children, providing crayons and coloring tablet. Food is fresh and wait time from order to presentation is minimal, with quality not sacrificed.

My friends and I stopped at the Tavern for dinner. Loved the menu! Great selections! We went on a Saturday, and they have $3 off apps until 6:00 pm. The apps are already pretty reasonably priced, so this was a great deal! My friends ordered the wings and kept raving about them! They said they would be craving them in... More

We had late evening reservations on a Saturday night for the restaurant, probably not necessary at that hour. We were seated in the bar area. It's an intimate setting, the waitstaff was attentive and observant. The menu is varied with something for everyone. I had the shrimp and grits and the lamb from the small plate selection. The lamb was... More

Always stop to eat at this enjoyable pub. Enjoy watching the game on TV as well as be with family. Soups, beers and sandwiches are always good.

A good low-key place to grab a beer and some bar food. Not many TVs for watching the game, but it's a quaint, cozy atmosphere. We've been two times now, and if we're in town again, we' d likely stop in for a drink. The service is friendly, too.

The blue crab crabcakes are an absolute must - the best by far that I've had anywhere. Nice selection of salads all with fresh and varied ingredients. Good wine list with affordable pricing. Entrees a bit pricey but quality of food top notch and presentation is nicely done, so well worth the price point. Interesting ambiance - the restaurant is... More

A good restaurant to sit and relax, for casual dining. The menu is simple, but offers a nice selection of sandwiches and meals. Large selection of craft beers and wine. It's fun as it is across the street from the current Police Station.. A good meal for a reasonable price. Would definitely go back for lunch or dinner!

We had a wonderful dinner here during the hub-bub of Black & Gold weekend at College of Wooster. We had a later reservation, but the hostess graciously seated us early, warning us that our service may be al little slow because of the early arrival. This wasn't the case at all - the hostess and waitress were excellent - pleasant... More
