Description: The Olde Jaol facility was built in 1865, and was claimed to be the finest sheriff facility of its kind. In 1977 the Wayne county sheriffs department was relocated across the street to a new facility. Subsequently, the old jail was registered as a historical landmark in 1980 and in 1995 The Olde Jaol Steakhouse / Tavern was given life. We have an excellent reputation for quality and service.Today, the Olde Jaol houses the finest in food and hospitality. We recommend our Certified Angus Beef® steak entrées. Only 8 percent of beef is tasty enough to meet the brand’s high standards. It’s simply the tastiest, juiciest, most tender beef you’ll ever have.

It was a slow start, with what seemed as an unprepared restaurant for our group, but after some discussion it fell into place. The food was fantastic and te service very good. Great recovery!!

The food and service was excellent. My only problem with this restaurant is the stairs that go down to the dining room. Other than that it is a great place to dine and the food is always good. We had a great waitress.

I visited this place with friends yesterday and it was great for drinks. The outside seating area is pretty nice and when the weather is good, its great to get a drink here. With a really good atmosphere, it is a good place to hang out in Wooster.

Our son attend college of Wooster, so we are always trying different restaurants. This is in the basement of the old sherriff's office downtown and in the basement to boot. Food was very good, a little pricy. The service was very good and since it was once a jail, there are several dining rooms, each holding about 6 tables. Nice... More

I have been here twice, the most recent visit was last week. Always at lunch. I appreciate the speed of this place. They know execs are on lunch and are on the ball. The best burger of my life Experience #1. And the meatiest, hottest, most delicious chicken fingers of my life Experience #2! You just can not go wrong... More

Whether its date night or you want to have a fun experience with friends just ask for Carole or Roger. Food has changed since new chef came a few months ago. Glad to see menu changing but don't need all the fufu ingredients. It is known as a steak house. Will definitely go back.

I'm assuming this is the same restaurant/owner located in downtown Wooster. I had lunch yesterday with my boss and it was great! We were told to seat ourselves at one of several open tables. And this was at noon! The service was excellent and the waitress kept my diet cola filled. We both ordered salads - mine a wing-style chicken... More

the Tavern -- outside is great, offers casual lunch menu. The Restaurant has great food -- literally in the old jail facility. History and good food combine for a good experience. (dark and not easily accessible)

Went to dinner with friends and had a very enjoyable experience. Started in the tavern next door for appetizers and a drink then moved to the restaurant. Fairly price with excellent service. Three of us got the prime and it was very good. Desert outstanding. It was a Saturday evening and not overly busy but they did have a nice... More
