We walked in and the atmosphere reminded us of the diners of our youth. The portions were appropriate and reasonably priced. We visited on a Saturday morning and the place was packed. Even with that the wait was not too long and our food came quickly and was cooked to order. Nothing appeared to be prepared ahead of time.

We ate breakfast on a Friday morning around 10 am, and they were still packed. We sat at the counter and tried to order our food with our drinks, but they do not do that. You have to wait to order your food until just before they are ready to make it. We were in a bit of rush, but... More

If you love watching a short order chef, and food from the 50' & 60's This is the place. There's nothing fance, and bring cash but you are in for a treat. Try the Herb Walker? for a great breakfast.

I have been going to Jim's Open Kitchen restaurant since 1979 and have eaten at many competitors Jim's has the best taste most consistent food with a very friendly atmosphere. It is what you'd expect from a small diner style restaurant and more. I usually get "Jack's special" which is two eggs prepared your way, delicious home fries, your choice... More

I grew up in Aurora and passed this place daily, without really knowing about it. I live in Northwest Ohio now, and my Husband and I recently ate at Jim's Open Kitchen upon the advice of my brother, who has not eaten there yet either. There was a wait on a Sunday morning in December for a table, but not... More

This place has been in business a long time. Even though I've lived in the area my whole live, today was the first time I tried it. It's a dive. Not much to look at. That's ok as long as the food is good. The problem that I had with it was that I thought the food was very bland.... More

This is the place for a good ole fashion diner breakfast. Once you get a booth (space is very limited) service is lightning fast. All the breakfast classics. Pancakes and waffles to die for. Inexpensive. All made from scratch behind the counter. Fresh is the word. Nothing sitting arond here. Cooked to order. Friendly service too.

The model for the greasy spoon that all other copy. Established in the 1950's, this place has the open grill concept with the cooks making meals right in the dining room behind the counter. Always excellent and never a sense of faking it with the decor. I love the servers, who seem to always remember me even when visits are... More
