I have heard people brag about the food at The Ribber for years. The fries and mushrooms and the ribber fries had so much oil/ grease that I could have used it as a dipping sauce. The ribs which were more like a thick pork chop not a rib they were ok at least they were not greasey. The slaw... More

The Scioto Ribber restaurant is where the locals eat. It's at the east end of downtown Portsmouth. Great barbecued ribs and good side dishes. Be aware that the "ribs" are in fact substantial-sized pork steaks. Most women will be content with one, plus the side dishes, and most men will be filled up by two of them. So order the... More

We went with a large group of people. They were very busy and only had about 3 waitresses serving. It was a nice restaurant. The steaks were HUGE. They do not offer a smaller size steak than 16 oz., so I ordered the fish and chips. I was served later than the rest of my party. I think they forgot... More

Ask any one in southern Ohio and they'll tell you this is the best steak you will ever eat! It looks like a dive from the outside, but try it and you'll see. The freshly grill each steak to order outside on the grill. Try to go when they are not busy and the steak will be better. Also, waitress... More

By far the best steak anywhere. Try to go at off hours or the place will be packed because the food is great and servings are huge. We drive two hours there 6 or 7 times a year for the steaks. Folks are friendly and the prices are fair great meal period.

Visited the Ribber for the first time on Mothers Day - was told it would be a 45-minute wait for a table but we were seated in about 20 minutes. Promptly greeted by our server, who returned with our drinks and appetizers very quickly considering the number of tables and customers she was taking care of. From there, it was... More

I was in portsmouth for my grandson's graduation my father and I were taken there for dinner Heard they had the best steak in the world. Most of the food was really great but the service was not. Waited almost 2 hours for our food, was never even offered a refill on our coffee.

My friend knew I like BBQ, especially ribs. Before we went on a 3hr hiking at Shawnee State Park, we decided to try this place for a late lunch. There were not a lot of people in a Saturday afternoon. Since the menu indicates their ribs are big cut, we ordered one large ribs plate ($19) and a fish basket.... More

Don't visit Portsmouth without eating at this restaurant! We live in Portsmouth and eat here several times a month with our family. Only drawback is the bar environment for children may not be ideal, but the awesome food brings us back again and again!
