We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and loved it! The food was great, the service was excellent, and we all enjoyed ourselves. We were there on a Saturday night, and although they were busy, our server was great. If we lived in the area, we'd go there very often!

My husband & I chose dining here, because we LOVE Irish food! It is a large place with dining room, bar area & patio dining. We chose patio. I had a great toastie with chips and he had the Beef Stew Boxy. His complaint on the food was there was too much too eat! Mine was typical-toastie is basically a... More

We got in to Port Clinton late so we got settled in our hotel and then started looking for a place to eat. It was almost 9 pm so we needed to find a place before closing time. McCarthy's was recommended to us and it was close to the hotel. When we got there they were not real busy due... More

Stopped for dinner on Thursday 10 July with 5 friends. One friend and I ordered the Walleye basket – his with homemade potato chips and mine with fries. My friend eats a fair amount of Walleye as that was the quarry for this particular visit to Port Clinton. He said this was the best Walleye he had eaten, and I... More

They had pretzel bites with cheese dip as an appetizer special, it was great. We ordered a boxty each, after the waiter explained a boxty to us and recommended it. My husband had the Rueben Boxty and said it was excellent. It was all the good stuff of a Reuben with potato pancakes, what's not to like! I had the... More

Enjoying a weekend with friends at Port Clinton and Put-In-Bay's Pirate Festival. Ate dinner at McCarthy's last night. Lots of authentic Irish food. Everyone likes what they had. Soda bread with marmalade butter was great! Scotch eggs were interesting. Irish stew was huge. I like it less soupy and a little thicker, but good flavor. Good selection of drafts.
