Of course the place was CRAZY busy being just feet from the New Year's Eve "Walleye Drop"; however, the staff was very efficient, pleasant and kind. Our wait was about thirty minutes and the service thereafter was prompt and efficient. My only complaint was that at one point when our server returned to our table he smelled so strongly of... Port Clinton is a Resort Town and restaurants come & go because of the seasonality. McCarthy's has stayed and the reason is the food. Although they have the traditional Irish Pub food, they also have non-traditional food for those who savor more. I particularly like the potato soup that will warm you on a cold day & the Reuben Boxty... More

Who would think that one of the best places in town for a perch dinner would be an Irish pub. Well, according to my husband, who loves perch, their perch can't be beat. My philosophy is when you are in an Irish Pub....have a Boxty or Shepherd's Pie. They have a fantastic beer selection. We enjoy the pub atmosphere and... More

A mid-way stop while traveling merited a comfy hotel off-season, a view of the lake, an Irish Pub for dinner and a brief walkabout. Just right for us. Glad for Corned Beef Dinner for her, Shepherd's Pie alongside his Guinness, and something new for me: "Boxty"! With your filling of choice (reuben for me) sandwiched between two potato pancakes, smothered... More

I ordered a corned beef sandwich and was not disappointed. It was wonderful. I tried Scotch eggs for the first time and really enjoyed them. The waitress was friendly and fast. I would highly recommend eating at McCarthy's.

In mid October, on a Monday you'll find many restaurants closed in Port Clinton. After the summer tourists go home, this turns into a sleepy little town, full of high school spirit evident by window paintings on most of the businesses supporting the upcoming football game! McCarthy's is an Irish pub, and has many, many beers to choose from, including... More

My husband and I were just stopping in the Sandusky area on our way back home to Indiana. We both love fresh fish...I am the daughter of an avid great-lakes fisherman. The owner of Crystal Rock Campgrounds recommended the fresh fish at McCarthy's. She was ooohhh sooo right. I had the walleye; my husband had the perch...and we shared. Walleye... More

Both my wife and I ordered perch. (This is the Lake Erie region, after all.) We weren't disappointed.

Goid creative menu. The burgers and sandwiches are excellent. Why do you have to pay extra for fries? This is the only place in the area outside of cedar point where they have the gall to charge six bucks for a hot dog. The menu is creative and generally tasty but they find a way to nickel and dime you... More
