I read decent reviews so I thought we'd give it a try. The waitress was terrible. She pestered us about every 2 minutes asking for our order then after the food came she was no where to be found. My husband sat there with an empty glass for most of his dinner. I got the perch basket. The fish was... More

Decided to try McCarthy's for dinner but once we were seated and I found out they only had Sutter Home wine, I decided to just have a quick cheese plate and get dinner somewhere with better wine choices. The cheese plate was okay. It was served with two very small soda bread type muffins--not nearly enough to go with the... More

Great little Irish Pub. Enjoyed the Salmon and fish n chips. The Scotch Eggs appetizer was very tasty. We all enjoyed our meal and the outdoor seating.

McCarthy's just happened to be across the street from our hotel, but convenience wasn't the only thing great about this place. The menu is very diverse, and the food was amazing. We had fun sitting at the bar and talking with the fun folks who came in. The atmosphere was very casual, and the bartender was excellent! Definitely will come... More

As the title states, I have mixed emotions about this place. We did visit twice this past week. On Thursday, we visited and upon opening the door we were greeted with a long line. Apparently, there was a 'Shooters' event (as in shooting guns) around the area. From what we could figure out, a group had requested seating for 20... More

Hoping for a nice lunch, our family left disappointed and hungry. We ordered the Onion Petals as an appetizer...the basket was 1/2 full when removed..all thick crust...almost like deep fried pancake batter. Blugh. Our entrees were two variations of Shepard's pie, a Reuben Sandwich, and kid's sliders. The Shepard's pie was so poor...made with gravy tasting like bullion cubes and... More

Four of us went for dinner. Got the scotch eggs. Way overpriced at $9.50 for approximately 3 eggs. Mom said the perch sandwich was fantastic. I got a small steak that was overcooked. Chips that come with sandwiches are very tasty. Took waitress really long time to come take our order and then to get our beer from the bar.

I had the Boxy with chicken, mushrooms, onions, and peppers..it was delish. My husband had the Alfredo with shrimp he said it was excellent. We also had the Irish Nachos..yum! I recommend this place! It is not overpriced either. Everything tasted homemade. Staff was friendly.

If you are in or near Port Clinton and want very good Irish themed food make McCarthy's a destination. I had the "Bangers and Mash" and they were wonderful. Large portions, fresh, well prepared food. The wait staff was friendly courteous and prompt. Prices are reasonable and there is a good selection of beer on tap. And don't forget dessert,... More
