Hidden Gem

This bar / restaurant is tucked away in an ally off of High Street, but is not a place to be missed. There is a reason it is frequented by all the local students—the good food and good atmosphere. As everyone else recommends, the burgers are always a good choice. However, I must add that the mac... read more

If you're in Oxford, OH, then you know your food options are extremely limited. I had heard about Mac & Joe's and decided to give the place a try. It's a little hard to find, since it's tucked in a back alley. It really does have a hole in the wall feel but it lacks the good food you'd expect... More

We went here today first time. We walked in toward bar and Sarah said rudely, there is a wait. I said can we eat at bar? Her response was if I get time to clean it off... Then she walked off. We sat at bar, after ten minutes she asked what we wanted, I said Bloody Mary's. She literally sighed... More

We stopped in at Mac & Joe's while we were out riding the motorcycle. The main entrance is really just a door in an alley, but I we loved how "hole in the wall" it felt. There were a bunch of old bar flies arguing over basketball, with a mix of younger college kids. We just drank some cokes and... More

Tucked away in an alley of High Street, Mac and Joes is a hidden gem. The bar has a great beer selection, they have giant salads with amazing homemade ranch dressing (my favorite is the Redbrick BLT by the Pasta Chicken is a favorite of many others), and giant chicken wings. Go Monday for the 50 cent wings!

This place has an authentic vibe and is known as a calm and friendly alternative to some of the rowdier college-town bars. The bar food is a cut above. My roasted turkey sub was simple and yummy; husband's bacon and bleu cheese burger was huge and extraordinarily delicious. Side salads are ample and cheap, a great option. Add in a... More

Kind of a hole in the wall place in an alley in downtown Oxford, but it's a great little place with terrific burgers and beer. We also tried the fried mac and cheese balls. Yum. We were there on a Friday night and there were lots of college student and a upbeat vibe in the place.

Cheeseburgers are awesome! The tater tots were ok. The Chicken wings were very good, too. We have been before and the sandwiches are all well made and flavorful. There is a good beer selection. Unfortunately, it is hidden down an alley but ask one of the college kids and they will point you in the right direction! Good food value!

If you want a classic American dive, then this is for you. Greasy chicken wings, mini corn dogs, French fries, and plenty of beer on tap. The games are on, the staff is attentive. Not healthy living, so best to not be a regular.

A nice hidden burger joint just off the main square in Oxford. Every college town needs a good burger bar and Mac & Joe's lives up to the challenge. The burgers are handmade and quite large with a variety of toppings. All members of our family were pleased with how there burger was prepared and with the sides. The turkey... More
