SWISS NOT AMISH-GOOD SUNDAY BUFFET

This is excellent for the area. A nice change from all the Amish restaurants. Owned by the Swiss family who own Guggisberg Cheese, across the road. Years ago, the Amish advertised for a Swiss cheesemaker to immigrate to the area as an outlet for all their milk. The family keeps growing the... read more

We have been to Chalet in the Valley many times throughout the past 30 years and it always has had the same quality....exceptional! We are amazed at the variety of food served and its freshness. Everything is perfect! We especially enjoy the Sunday buffet. And the Matterhorn dessert! Delicious!

Loved it! First time visiting the area. The Fondue, made with their own award winning Guggisberg Swiss Cheese, is fantastic. I had the Veal Schnitzel, wife had a big ole Grilled Cheese sandwich. Good service, manager made the rounds to make sure customers were satisfied. Left with Strudel and Black Forest Cake for back at the hotel.

Came for the Sunday buffet, was not disappointed. Great little salad bar with very fresh ingredients, hot bar and assortment of German/Amish meats and sides, as well as carved beef and ham. I am always content when there is a freshly sliced and juicy piece of beef on my plate. another favorite was garlic mashed potatoes with bacon. In addition... More

My husband and I were very excited to find this gem in Amish Country. The view from the restaurant is stunning. It's a nice, serene drive from Berlin Resort (only 7 minutes away). The overall atmosphere was very welcoming and has wonderful Swiss decor and architecture. The waitresses are also dressed in traditional Swiss attire which added to the unique... More

This was one of the few places open after 6 pm. The food was a bit over-priced and just ok. We had the cheese fondue and it was bread and cheese. Be sure to read the place mat. The cheese maker changed his cheesemaking from Swiss style to appeal to the "less developed palates" of Americans.

Just off the main road of 39/62 - well worth the visit. We suggest the Guggisberg cheese house across the street - be careful people drive way too fast on that road. The food is excellent, the service is excellent and the portions are sufficient. I love the pork shanks and my husband greatly enjoyed the wurst platter. The fondue... More

Many of the local places close early (at least when we were there in December), and we were looking for something a bit different than the average Amish fare. Chalet in the Valley was a great choice. Warm pretzels were served with our meal, and the fried cheese curd appetizer was absolutely delicious! We noted that they are closing for... More
