Guest at a birthday party at The Mandarin Palace. Really nice environment to celebrate a birthday and staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient in getting orders out to a large group. Comprehensive and varied menu and very good prices. Tasty as well! Great drinks list. This restaurant is a pleasant establishment to visit and have an enjoyable time.

Dropped in here for dinner after the movies. Lucky to get a table as it was pretty full but they accommodated us and the service and food were OK. Certainly nothing to complain about.

Wife and I snuck up to the Mandarin Palace for a quiet Friday night dinner. We arrived around 7.30pm without a booking. Restaurant had only 2 other tables of diners, so getting a table wasn't an issue. Wife ordered a CC and dry to drink, unfortunately they were out of CC (sending someone down the road to the bottleshop could... More

Uninspiring food and lousy service is how I would sum up this dining experience. Six of us arrived at 6.30 pm and four of us ordered the banquet, the other two just ordered off the menu. The food was very slow coming out to our table and although it looked delicious it was in fact very bland and the sauces... More

I have eaten here a number of times, it doesn't get any better, or any worse, it is consistently ordinary. Dim sims were bland, both steamed and fried. Last night we had fried rice, possibly the worst ever eaten, and mango chicken , which was a bit of chicken in a sweet and sour sauce, with 2 slices of tinned... More

I would defiantly recommend this resurant. It was delicious and it has been very hard to find tasty Chinese food in Tasmania. Mr and my husband have been there a few times and they remember us hich is always a plus. The things on the menu that we have tired ; Singapore noodles - amazing must try ! Although the... More

Most of the dishes are highly Westernised versions of the Chinese originals. Even the Schechuan chicken doesnt have a kick in it. Due to the large volume of take-away orders, expect to wait for your entrees, mains, drinks, et al...

This restaurant is a bit of an institution in Burnie, it's not great, but at least it's consistently mediocre, if you can't be bothered travelling and are desperate for chinese food it's ok. Try the Jade Willow in Ulverstone instead, it isn't consistent but the best on the NW coast.
