Description: 'A touch of indulgence' at the BRUNY ISLAND SMOKEHOUSE WINE & WHISKY BAR. Having won seven medals in 2011 & two medals in 2013 at the Tasmanian Fine Food Awards, the Bruny Island Smokehouse & Wine Bar has expanded to meet the high demand for their Award winning Bruny Island produce. A very popular addition is the Tasmanian Single Malt Whiskeys, along side the extensive range of Tasmanian wines, ciders and ales. The focus is still very much on the range of premium smoked produce, exclusively sold here on Bruny Island.Being so close to the ferry (3kms) people often call in twice, firstly to stock up on MADE ON BRUNY ISLAND gourmet produce and wine to enjoy at their accommodation and again as they leave, to taste those amazing Tasmanian Single Malt Whiskys, re stock, and enjoy a 'Smokehouse Platter', fine wine or Moo Brew on Tap.This amazing little venue lends a touch of indulgence to your Bruny Island experience, with its stunning water views, large veranda and leather lounges.

In my opinion this is not a smokehouse. Its just a wine bar with a very small quantity of prior-packed fish that you can buy. No food at all available to taste or purchase. The only tastings were wine and chutneys. We planned our day in order to stop here for lunch but went away hungry.

Thanks for your review, great for clarification. We are no longer 'smoking on site, we outgrew the premises two years ago & split our business into two separate businesses. The Bruny Island Smokehouse & Whisky Bar, and BISH Wholesale. Here at the Smokehouse & Whisky Bar we have over 150 products all local, all available to purchase & many served... More

Way too expensive! Great views and cosy building, but $18 for a pint of beer is crazy!! Food platters also pricey at $65/$75. I'm sure if the prices were more reasonable many more visitors would indulge. Disappointed!

Thanks for your review, its always a good opportunity for clarification to other travellers. We serve local Tasmanian boutique ales here at the Smokehouse, prices starting at $4.50 up to the top of the range at $18 which would be what you ordered. As specified on our menu, our gourmet platters are 'for two' hence the pricing. Our venue is... More

Great selection of goodies to take away or eat there and enjoy the beautiful view. Huge range of whiskies to sample and purchase as well.

This is the first stop on the 'food trail' when you get on to Bruny Island and it sets the bar high. The produce is all local and all very good. We picked up some pate and some smoked salmon which were both really good - it's just a shame that we couldn't take more. The person working at the... More

Visited during a tour of Bruny Island. A very busy place with a small opportunity to enjoy all their produce, they had a tasting station but was a little wary of the hygiene, they tried to check all produce but I think they were over run by the amount of people. Bought some pate was a little dis appointed. May have... More

We stopped at this place before heading to the ferry. The location and the wooden building is nice. There is a big variety of spitits made locally: vodka, whiskey and gin. But we expected to see more smoked fish available to try and purchase. You can order hot food and have wine. There is indoor and outdoor area where you... More

Make this a must stop on your visit to Bruny. Only a short distance from the ferry, you can stock up on some great produce to get your visit to Bruny started! The chorizo sausage was yum and the smoked trout also!

What a shame they do not have a small brunch order capability or even a lunch option. The food appears to be wonderful quality but eat in not available. Great that you can try many local Whiskies but a small meal to go with it would greatly enhance the experience

Thank you for the review, great that you called in & experienced the Smokehouse & Whisky Bar. I am confused as to why you were not made aware of our menu which is in a prime position on the bar. We have always served our meals all day from 9.30 a.m, in winter our kitchen closes around 4 p.m. We... More
