popped in on a run through from Port Macquarie, very hungry and gagging for coffee. Was not expecting this lovely character filled place, it is like a museum of car racing helmets, engine parts and all sorts of old advertising signs. Service was very friendly and coffee was excellent. enjoyed cappuccinos with a toasted ham and cheese sandwich sitting on... More

The Royal has always done wonderful breakfasts and lunches but has recently expanded to doing dinner Friday and Saturday nights. The menu is deliberated daily by the chef and written on specials boards as you enter. When we visited we couldn't decide on what to get but we started with bruschetta and lemon chili squid; which were both to die... More

AT the end of beginning of the famous Oxley Hwy; this café is a great place to stop for a drink, food or just to relax. We unfortunately spent many hours on one day here (unfortunate because we had riding plans but one of the bikes broke down) but sitting under the tree outside, eating and drinking, there are far... Having stopped at the Royal many a time on my trips over the mountain I felt I needed to recommend this gem of a place to everyone. Years ago I'd tried the other cafes in Walcha and I've noticed others pop up too but the Royal ranks way above the others - mostly in their country hospitality. I've eaten breakfast... More

We stayed as a family - 2 adults and one seven year old for 2 nights. While a better venue for couples upstairs we were quite happy with the facilities. They do have a cottage as well which would probably be better for a family. The owner Toni is very hospitable and welcoming and our little man Zach had a... More

We only spent one night here but we were most impressed with the friendly atmosphere. I guess that comes with being among motorcyclists, we all get along well together no matter what the venue. But the proprietors are open to anyone, not just motorcyclists, many locals appear to have made it their preferred spot for coffee. The unique decor is... More

The Royal Cafe in Walcha recently refused to serve two on duty police officers a coffee order because they were police officers. These two police officers were out that way after receiving reports of a motorcycle accident. This venue specifically targets motor cycle riders. These officers are the men and women who attend to numerous motorcycle accident that occur on... More

This place was awesome, place is full of character inside and out if your a petrol head like me. The 3 of us had the place to ourselves with Brad & Toni the owners leaving us to our own devices without taking any cc details or otherwise. Very trusting folk and we appreciated the fully stocked fridge too etc. And... More

We had the best scones here (ok, I haven't tried any others!). The scones, jam and cream were fantastic, the service was prompt, and the outdoor seating and great.
