We took the kids out for a meal whilst on holiday. The menu selection was pretty good, however they'd run out of a few of our initial choices. We settled for for special (milk fed rump), and whilst it was cooked as requested (medium rare) it was one of the toughest pieces of meat I've had in years. Otherwise we... More

I ate here a couple of times for dinner. It summer there is a nice terrace in the back where you hear nothing from the very busy highway. The food is good and the beer is cold. What more do you want for dinner after a hard working day?

This pub used to be a little gem in Blackheath which used to be buzzing with locals and visitors passing by, the weekends would be great outside by the heaters or inside by the fire. However now unfortunately it seems management has changed and it's has slowly gone down hill and it's patronage numbers are a clear sign of that.... More

Super pub grub in a lovely environment ... very historic building and has a fab menu. Love sitting here with a glass of red on cold winter days. Highly recommended.

Dropped in here for a quick Sunday meal. They had slow cooked beef ribs on special which I ordered. Bloke ordered the fish. Food arrived and it was massive and delicious. The ribs I so wanted to finish but couldn't. Slow cooked, sticky, fall apart finger food full of carnivorous deliciousness. The fish was lovely, chips perfect and we sat... More

We called at this restaurant on a mid-week evening in Blackheath. It was not busy but the atmosphere was reasonable. My first surprise was no 'table service'. The meals were quickly prepared and were very tasty. The cost was reasonable and as indicated in the title the helpings were large. I have added some photographs.

As it's the only hotel in Blackheath there is plenty of room for improvement. My room was facing the GWH and every truck and train rattled the windows. I had to stay for 4 nights and I didn't sleep ...the crowd in the pub keep you awake til the traffic takes over. Breakfast is a bowl of cereal and cold... More

My god, the chicken schnitys at this pub are big, and cooked perfect, the daughter who normally knocks over one couldn't even go halfway with hers, younger daughter had nuggets n chips, again she was thrilled, and the waitress brought the tomato sauce for the nuggets with her. Beer was cold and the staff friendly Great country pub.

I organised a dinner for about 40 people in a function room at Gardners Inn. Overall the experience was a good one. The restaurant had just changed hands and they were winging it when I first was making the arrangements but on the night they pulled off a fairly good effort at a good price. I wanted an economical meal... More
