The Horseguards is off the main road and rather unprepossessing in appearance, so we were amazed to find that we really should have booked for lunch on a Thursday. Anyway they did fit us in and we ate inside, not in the garden. The building is on all sorts of levels and really quite quirky. You go up a considerable... More

This was a great find. Friendly service and tasty food that was well presented. We stopped at The Horse Guards Inn on our way back from Petworth - it's in a quiet location and is worth making the effort to find. The pub is charming and has character. Although we sat inside on this occasion, there is an attractive garden... More

As our local, some folks may think I am slightly bias however as a dining customer last night, its going to be credit where its due. We decided to eat at the Horse Guards following a long day out and I not wanting to cook. My son and husband had steak, chips, salad and some veg and I had red... More

We stopped en-route to the Isle of Wight. We had not booked but they found a table near the bar for us. Just had their lighter meal as we were eating a full meal later. We had salt hake which was excellent & roast beef sandwich, beef was rare, excellent presentation. If we could it would be 10/10.

Driving across country. Already 5 hours behind the wheel. Had enough. Turned left up a small road. Went into the Horse Guards. A gaggle of young, friendly and beautiful women each more beautiful than the next, got us accommodated in the garden. On benches with sheepskins to soften the landing. These had to be rushed under cover when it started... More

A welcoming, friendly pub with all the " traditional" trappings. The menu was in my view fairly restricted which meant that they could concentrate on serving food that was freshly cooked and well presented. Service was attentive and efficient and waiting times were only those that one would associate with the necessary cooking times. My seared sea bass was about... More

Ate here on a Saturday night, place was busy but not overcrowded. Service with a smile was quick and efficient. Starters on slate beds, steak well hung, crispy homemade chips, great cheeseboard to share

One of the best pub meals I have had in a very long while and only rivalled, in my experience, by the higher end London gastropubs. All produce is locally sourced, mostly from Sussex, and local ales are on tap. The wine list is reasonably good. We had a truly excellent meal worthy of a good restaurant and, in part... More

My wife and I had lunch here recently and were very impressed by the standard of the food. Everything was locally sourced and cooked to perfection. The wine list had a good selection at reasonable prices and the staff were very friendly and attentive. However, we particularly enjoyed the charming atmosphere and the rather quirky furnishings. Also, the tables are... More
