We had a late Saturday lunch at The Horse Guards after a 9 mile hike through the Sussex countryside and really enjoyed it. The pub is quirky and tiny, the staff are young, friendly and enthusiastic and the food is really good. What I particularly liked was the way that although a few menu items had run out, each had... Fab food and fabulous wine list and wonderful staff. Love this place and can't wait to go back any time of the day.

We visited for Sunday lunch - limited menu but something for all of our party of 8. Salt cod fritters were tasty, followed by pork shoulder which was very tender. Husband had the game terrine which he deemed delicious followed by lamb shoulder. Decent Sauvignon too. Friendly pleasant staff. A lovely quirky pub. Not a fan of the two sitting... More

A very vibrant place full of local charm, so this warrants a first class review in itself with the added benefit if attentive staff However the food was average , nothing to really rave about especially the charcuterie board which had the most disappointing saucisson I have ever tasted. But all in all a very pleasing afternoon which was enjoyed... More

We have just returned from a most enjoyable Sunday lunch at the Horseguards Inn. It was a 2.30pm booking and the place was buzzing. The service was efficient and really pleasant - we were served by a charming young waiter. The food arrived swiftly, was hot and most importantly delicious. The portions were good and the price reasonable. The atmosphere... More

We had a brilliant three course meal on a Sunday evening! All four of us said we would go back, helpful staff and a good selection of locally sourced food! Really would recommend! Wish we had gone sooner!

Ate here on a Sunday eve. The pub / restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was pleasant, yet vibrant too. Friendly staff in a beautiful pub and setting. The menu is small but the concept of fresh local or home grown produce, cooked to order as clear. A great gastronomic pub as it should be. We shared a starter and... More

We come to the HGI maybe once a quarter, if that, and it always makes me smile how twee the place is - Farrow & Ball everywhere and everything just so! I do like the place even though I am happiest with a pint in the pub - the "pub" bar is very small so this is an eaters place... More

Recommended this place by high Hampstead. We were down for a horse weekend and this was our last stop off before heading back to the big smoke.... A late Sunday lunch... Another truly wonderful pub. Fantastic Sunday roast... Atmosphere, decor etc etc.....

First time we tried we had no booking & no luck. Second time we did book and enjoyed a really good Sunday lunch. Small rooms but nicely not overcrowded. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great to find the very detailed list of suppliers too. The church completes the perfect picture with a large view over the Weald.
