Lovely English Pub!

Went here on a recommendation from the BnB we're staying in, and it was absolutely lovely! Service was excellent, order was taken quickly, but never felt rushed at all. Food was delicious, we shared some breads and dips and both had a steak which was cooked perfectly. Lovely atmosphere. While it... read more

if you're looking for a really friendly service, well kept beer and top pub grub then this is for you .i decided to go vegetarian for the day . amazing chilli black bean dish . . crucial that you book both for lunch and dinner time otherwise you're likely to be disappointed .

I was told of this hidden gem by my daughter and although 24 miles away thought it would be fun and fun it certainly was. Lovely and friendly welcome as soon as we walked through the door of this 350 years old pub. Offered a drink immediately whilst looking through a wonderful menu. Loved the fact they cater for light... More

Had lunch booked here prior to a wedding at the Church opposite. Nicely done out in a slightly contemporary style yet retains the ambience and roots to the old charm of an English country pub in a lovely village opposite the church dating back to the 15th C. Staff very pleasant , food very good , and some nice beers.... More

Went for a family meal and, although we'd booked, sat in the lovely garden on a summers evening with our dogs. Bread and dips were really good. Three of our party had perfectly cooked, well presented steaks. You will not have better chips anywhere! I'm the veggie and had cauliflower and Parmesan cake with heritage tomatoes. This place is a... More

We went for Sunday lunch - 2 beef and one pork. All excellent. The beef was a "traditional" roast, but the pork came with crushed potatoes (not usually a favourite of mine) and a mustard sauce. Both the crushed potatoes and the sauce were excellent. Followed up with the passion fruit pud and an excellent cheese board. Good value and... More

The location of this pub is beautiful. We decided to take a nice walk before our lunch. We were originally going to stop for lunch at the "Badgers" (part of the walk) but once again found the Badgers to be unfriendly and unappealing. Thank goodness we decided to lunch at the Horse Guards Inn. We had no expectation upon arrival.... More

Phoned ahead blind, running tight ahead of a wedding at the church next door. Lady on the phone really helpful, food landed on an outside table just as we walked in. Mix of dishes from BLT to cheese to fish stew - all excellent. Courtyard garden inspired design. Large garden very welcoming. Wish we had booked to stay. Next time.

We stayed at the Horse guards inn last week with my parents, and i have to say this place is spectacular. We could not find fault with it,The accommodation is great, the wines and ales superb, and the food simply wonderful. From the sirloin steaks to the lobster and the Greek fishermens stew,it was all cooked to perfection.Every ingredient is freshly locally sauced, and the... Given the reviews on this site, last week with three friends I went to The Horse Guards at Tillington for lunch. My friends are ‘foody’ types so I hoped for a good lunch. The ambiance is quirky but ok. My main gripe was the portion sizes, very mean to say the least; also the quality of the food served. The... More
