Description: The hollist arms is a beautiful old pub set in the heart of the village of Lodsworth. It is full of elegant charm and character with an eclectic mix of antique furniture and artefacts which enhance it's uniqueness. The Hollist has built a reputation for superb home cooked gastronomical delights by Serge and Sally, the chefs and owners, who have created a menu that excites and comforts. Serge's Mediterranean background, combined with his classic French training and years of gastronomical experience in France and England show in the quality of the food served. His philosophy is simple however. He prides himself on producing unpretentious food, generously portioned, sensibly priced and full of flavours. The Hollist has been nominated as one of the 25 best pubs in Sussex, with a special mention for outstanding roasts on Sundays (Sussex Life July 2013).The hollist also boasts an enviable wine list with wines sourced exclusively from small, independent vineyards; plus three fantastic, well kept real ales, one of which is a regularly changing guest ale. We look forward to meeting you.

Found this lovely pub on tripadvisor and thought we would give it a go. Excellent sunday lunch the roast beef was melt in the mouth, We have been twice now in the space of a month, both times the food and Service have been outstanding. Can also recommend the cask ales that were being served.

Lovely atmosphere. Great food & very friendly welcome from staff. Since this pub has been redecorated, it has a much brighter welcoming atmosphere. They also have a very extensive wine list with excellent choices. Also, an added attraction is 'The Lodsworth Larder' that is situated onsite in the car park. This is managed & staffed by local volunteers & many... More

The Hollist Arms has a reputation for good food and service today it didn't deserve it. The attention from our young blond waitress was timid and lacked conviction she had to double check she had everyone's order. the subsequent service was slow the food when it arrived was warm rather than hot and various elements poorly done Yorkshire puddings that... We are sorry that on this occasion we failed to meet our usual high standards, which affected the quality and service of your meal. Unfortunately We had to rely on junior members of our team on that day due to family I'll health and bereavement which slowed the service. Our junior members are told to clarify orders with customers, in... More

One of the best pub's in the area, been to a lot of pub's in Sussex but this is the best one by far. The food is of a high standard and the service was great. Sunday lunch was well worth the money, been to a lot of places for Sunday roast but never impressed. My friend had a burger... More

We used to go to The Hollist Arms a number of years ago but it seemed to take a nose dive after George left so we steered clear. However, after reading glowing recent Tripadvisor reviews, we decided to give it another go on Sunday and unfortunately we will not be going back. The food was, in general, really very average... Thank you for the review. I am only responding for the benefit of future or potential customers who may be dissuaded from visiting, as these damaging, biased reviews we get always make a point of mentioning our predecessor. These customers tend to come to our restaurant looking for faults, and focus on only negative aspects, however trivial, and then blow... More

I eat steak quite regularly and have tried many restaurants and pubs in the area over along period but have never been totaly satisfied with the meat produced. Too much fat left on, stringy bits in the middle and an inability by some to be able to produce what I call a medium rare steak. The Hollist steak 10oz is... More

The Hollist has everything that a good village pub needs friendly staff who greet you with a smile, good beer, good food and most importantly a good atmosphere. I have been staying in the area since the end of last year and The Hollist has become a regular bolt hole and refuge in the village, I can turn up and... More

Although we live 40 minutes away we have eaten at the Hollist Arms three times in the last few months and have never been disappointed. A pub which is a friendly local yet produces good food at sensible prices. Recently we have had excellent soft roe herrings on sough dough toast as a starter. The fish and chips was beautifully... We were camping at a ste in Graffham and we have been told of this great pub with a 9ft Gorilla in the beer garden in Lodsworth. Having kids we decided to investigate. What a charming pub with a great bar, restaurant and snug. As it was such a lovely evening we decided to eat in the garden. This was... More

Lovely village, lovely staff and food, our favorite pub near Petworth. The beef burgundy pie was to die for. Delicious and with perfectly tender, lean meat which I much appreciated. We kept going back and everything we ordered was always so good. Highly recommend!
