Consistently good food

I took my mother for lunch here - my third visit to this pub. Made to feel welcome from arrival, the staff suggested that I "find any table without a reserved sign on it". As I was driving and my mother is in her eighties, we elected for soft drinks, which the waitress brought to the table. We... read more

We came for lunch as a family, it was a bit odd that we had booked a table for 12 but then not able to get in until 12noon, normally places open slightly before if you arrive a bit earlier. We all very much enjoyed our food, a couple of little issues, the first not really acknowledged, the second time... More

It had been a while since we had eaten at the Coach and Horses, the food was still as good as it has been. I had the burger which was one of the best I have had out in a while and my husband had the sea bass which was cooked perfectly. The were really friendly and welcomed our two... More

Our second meal at the Coach and Horses. This time, three of us went here for lunch ... the pub has a lovely country atmosphere. We were greeted by a very docile Golden Retriever who was snoozing in the car park! It was a Wednesday lunchtime in Winter so it was not very busy in the restaurant with just a... More

This is an old "local" pub with a fantastic restaurant in what used to be the stable block. There was an open fire in each room, two bars and the restaurant. Lovely setting with stone walls and beams above us.

We live about 10 miles from this pub and it was recommended by a friend a couple of years ago. Once we'd been there, we had to keep going back, especially in the summer. It clearly hasn't changed in 50 years or more, and has a charm to it that has been preserved. Food is good, certainly no complaints. The... More

Our Sussex roast beef lunch was perfection today. Served with crunchy rosemary roasties, a fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and complemented by beautifully cooked greens and red cabbage flavoured with star anise, the beef was succulent and full of flavour. Fab salted caramel pannacotta to follow and a gorgeous chewy ginger biscuit to go with my coffee. Clearly someone in the kitchen... More

If you don't want to read the full details of why you should avoid this rude and impolite venue - then stop here. But let me simply state that if enjoying kind and courteous service is part of your general expectations for dining then do not come to this pub. We came here for lunch after a walk - the... More
