warm food with poor service

we popped in Easter Sunday evening for bar food, to be told no bar food only a la carte but not much left as been so busy over the weekend. So we went without. We returned Easter Monday evening for food. We was told a few dishes were off the menu as sold out and no chicken dishes left. I... read more

Was staying at the Travelodge next door so had an evening meal here. There was a warm welcome when we entered and we were shown to a table and given the menus. The menu looked a tad limited. We opted for the steak and I'm afraid that the rare steak had been grilled for the same length of time as... More

Staying over on business, it was this, Burger King or Little Chef, not much competition. I was a bit apprehensive about eating in a pub on my own, but I was very warmly welcomed, and seated quickly, and could see 3 or 4 other people dining alone. There was quite a lot of variety on the menu, but I wasn't... More

Stayed in the Travelodge next door so this was ideal to pop into for our evening meal. No trouble getting a table. Food was well cooked, good size portions. Staff are very polite

Four of us decided to eat here on the evening of Saturday 4 March - it was very busy. After being shown to our table and provided with menus we were left, and left, and left. After 15 minutes or so, I went to the bar and managed to get a bottle of wine. I was promised that the two... More

We reserved our table for 7pm on a Monday evening in February. Upon arrival we were informed there had been a fire earlier in the kitchen thus making service incredibly slow. We decided to forgo the starters and just order main courses. At this stage we were unaware of how long it would take for our food to arrive. Had... More

Nice and efficient Inn with good staff. A little on the chilly side (a common fault of Vintage Inns, I have found) and the standard menu is now suffering with a bit of "menu fatigue" - needs a bit of a freshen up. Bring some duck dish back, for example or a few new, innovative dishes to tempt us in.

We had eaten here a few times over the years and always enjoyed it so decided to go for Mother's Day, it took ages for our main meals to come out and once we had got them they were cold and hardly anything on the plate for the money we paid! out of 7 of us only 2 enjoyed their... More

We were staying in the Travelodge next door, so obviously after the races we had a wonderful meal and a few drinks to end our stay!! The pub is very nice and the staff are all very friendly and polite, this pub truly does have a great atmosphere! The food is good, and although we have been here before we... More

We enjoyed Saturday lunch here. Lunch menu is reasonably priced with a nice selection of dishes to choose from. The main menu also offers a good selection again reasonably priced. The pub caters for groups and families with children.
