We were staying at the Travelodge across the highway from the Old Stables and stopped for a quick lunch while waiting for the room to be ready. The food was good so we decided to go there the next evening for dinner. I had the slow roasted lamb shoulder and my husband opted for a salad with grilled chicken breast.... More

We booked a table here on a recommendation. Were asked to be there by 6.30, Sat. 6th Sept 2014 as a large party of over 34 were expected. We arrived well on time, waited ages to be given the menus and again for our drinks requests. We chose a tearing bread as a starter between the 4 of us to... More

Saturday night and we booked thank goodness because although we were surrounded by empty tables all evening there were posters saying they were fully booked. Starters OK but my chicken pie was very bland and some of the chips uncooked. Service was cheerful if a little slow towardd end of dinner. Easy walk from travel lodge and good beers.

My sister and husband were staying in the adjacant Travel Lodge so we arranged to meet for dinner at The Old Stables. We did not expect a lot and chose it for convenience. However it was a lovely surprise. For a start the actual restaurant has many attractive features with at least two attractice fireplaces that I noticed and some lovely... More

We've eaten here several times while staying at the Travelodge next door, the staff are extremely gracious, hard working and very pleasant. The food is good pub style grub, it's not fine dining so don't expect silver service, they seem understaffed to me although I'm not in the restaurant game. We had a varied selection of food including salmon, chicken... More

We went as a party of 6 for a family gathering. The table was booked for 8:00PM. We arrived at 7:35pm and was told the table was not quite ready. We therefore ordered a drink and were given copies of the menu. We were informed they would come for us when the table was ready. At 8:10pm there was not... More

We popped into the Old Stables on our way home. We ordered the rump steak and the salmon. We waited around 30 minutes for the food to arrive. My salmon was very nice although my potatoes could have been hotter. The steak was not so good very tough and full of grizzle. Maybe they need a change of butcher or... More

Thought to have a nice dinner at this old english pub for my husbands birthday. On arrival we were advised that it would be a forty five minute wait for the meal. A group of 6 people ahead of us decided not to wait. Wish we had done the same. We ordered a dinner for two at 22 pounds of... More

We had a pleasant surprise when stopping at this Pub en route to the New Forest from East Sussex over the Bank Holiday weekend. We found the staff especially welcoming and the food was apetising and hot. The only thing missing was a spoon to eat the sauce from the Fish Pie. As it was a dreadful day weather-wise the... More

Had a lovely meal at the Old Stables while staying at the Travelodge next door. The food and service was excellent with good menu choices. The prices were reasonable.
