We had a pleasant surprise when stopping at this Pub en route to the New Forest from East Sussex over the Bank Holiday weekend. We found the staff especially welcoming and the food was apetising and hot. The only thing missing was a spoon to eat the sauce from the Fish Pie. As it was a dreadful day weather-wise the... More

Had a lovely meal at the Old Stables while staying at the Travelodge next door. The food and service was excellent with good menu choices. The prices were reasonable.

Don't know what happened to this place, used to love coming here for lunch at the weekends, food and service has gone downhill since the management changed, took my grandson for a quick bite to eat last week, waited 25 minutes for his starter, when I asked one of the staff if they could check they returned with our main... We used this pub/restaurant on one of our regular trips to the races at Fontwell. I think it meets the need admirably. I've seen several reviews complaining about waits for food, but one can only speak as one finds. I've only ever eaten there immediately before the racing when it's always very busy. There are plenty of cheerful staff, though,... More

Despite the remixed reviews, we ate here in Goodwood week and had a very pleasant meal. Good food, prompt service and very pleasant staff

We were visiting the south coast and the Old Stables was recommended. Our first impressions were good - with the inside table set out well with napkins and wine glasses. The staff were co-operative and friendly. We ordered a black and blue steak and a rump steak with chips etc. We decided to eat outside as the evening was warm.... More

We booked a table for Sunday dinner and upon arrival were greated by friendly staff and invited to our table. It was a pity the Chef/kitchen staff did not make more of an effort in the production of our food ordered. We had the roast dinner which was supplied with parsnips cut so thin they had been baked to death,... More

Having to wait half an hour before our order was taken and a further half hour before it was served, 6 coated half mushrooms appeared with a lettuce leaf and a large dollop of garlic mayo on a massive dinner plate! Totally lost and uninviting! Main course served on a cold plate and the only thing that was warm was... More

Really lovely old pub. Friendly staff & great food. Although its on a main road, the garden is private and it was a pleasure to sit outside on a lovely sunny day. Would definitely recommend.

Went to the old stables for coffee today and was extremely disappointed with the service and cleanliness. My wife's cappuccino was served in a cup that had lipstick around the rim so had to be changed. I drank half my coffee and found a brown ring halfway down the mug clearly indicating it wasn't cleaned properly and the garden was... More
