Well when I first went here a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday I had the best carvery ever...the chef was funny with his banter and made us feel welcome ...the following Sunday was the same with the same chef having a laugh...last week a different chef which you would think he had to buy the meat... read more

We have been here before and the food has always been very good. I had a Sea Bass and my wife had the Lamb rump with rosmary. Both dishes were the best we have tasted and the staff were very freindly and attentive. We will deffinately be going back.

We live locally and like to try out local restaurants....having read various reviews we were in trepidation of our visit and had decided to decamp elsewhere if the wait for food was too bad! Well what a lovely surprise...Friday night and the whole experience was superb. All the food we chose was available, four of us shared two starters, which... More

Visited with family at lunchtime today (22nd May), pub looks a little bit tired and could do with freshening up but the food and in particular the piri piri chicken was amazing and I will recommend this dish and all food to everyone I also visited last Sunday 10th May in which the carvery was also amazing and the chef... Friendly pub but the food was awful. Sunday lunch.. Cold and dry, the beef was awful, chewy with more fat than meat, cold undercooked potatoes. I'm a fan of rare but this was almost walking off the plate. The whole setting really could do with a clean up. Shame, this pub is situated on one the prettiest areas I've visited.

We were looking for somewhere we could eat out while visiting my mother in law and we had our dog. Our usual haunt in this area was busy so we decided to try here, and we're glad we did. The menu is good honest pub grub which suits the style and ambience of the place - which is a no... More

The Black Horse food used to be excellent. This was our first visit since it closed and re-opened last year. The food is now, sadly, adequate but no more. And the service was very slow indeed - we decided against desserts because of the time we had to wait for our main courses. I did, however, have a really excellent... More

I must make it clear I can't say that it was the best pub meal I've ever eaten was from the Black Horse but it was dam close and this pub is well worth a visit. Also there is a friendly welcome with a basic but tasty menu One of the better off track pubs in West Sussex I can... More

Visited the Black Horse on Saturday evening -it was fairly quiet for this time of the week but this said we had a ;lovely home cooked food - I had a fish dish off the specials board and my husband the Kentucky ribs - both delicious and plenty of it. Staff were very friendly and attentive although like previous diners... More

Went to Blackhorse for Sunday Carvery as were unable to get a Table in the Arun View. We hadn't booked, so we're lucky to walk in & get a Table for Four on a Sunday lunchtime @ 1:30. Wasn't overly impressed with the carvery. There was a choice of 3 meats gammon, turkey & beef. & a good choice of vegetables,... More
