A traditional pub-menu, rather than Gastro pub - but very well done. Everything is fresh, and nice and unpretentious. Loved it. Staff were warm, and sweet.

Popped in around lunchtime on 20th Sept on the way home from a shopping trip (I live about 5 miles from the pub), glad to see the place open again. The menu was uninspiring and very short, other guests were moaning about the omission of some of the 'old favourites', like lasagna. The Mrs fancied one of the good-old burgers... More

This is a traditional country free-house pub that has recently reopened. That in itself is these days worthy of note. Its young team deserve every praise for their energy and enthusiasm. A rather long menu is enlarged by the "specials" boards, which unfortunately require visitors to move around and memorise as they are not included as an appendix in the... More

We revisited the Black Horse again on 6th August 2014. We both had liver and bacon with mash, peas, onions and onion gravy, which we both agreed was absolutely delicious, although more bacon and less liver might have been better. How can you beat a fabulous liver and bacon meal at a price of £15 for two. Fast service considering... More

Having read previous reviews I made a visit here 2nd Sept. pm. I went with 2 friends and a open mind. We were greeted very warmly and were served straight away. There were several diners there. There was an extensive menu reasonably priced, and decided to have the steak and mushroom pie. We stayed at the bar until our food... More

been a few years since we visited the black horse, but as soon as we drove into the car park and noticed a lack of customers it had us worried. It was Sunday so we chose a roast dinner, and all decided on the lamb. Not very nice at all.Thin slivers of 'lamb',battered parsnip, hard cauliflower hiding under a cheesy sauce and watery gravy.Oh,and we... 29th of August and we decided to go out for some dinner and were quite pleased that we managed to find this place. As we walked in we were received by one of the waiters and given instructions while looking around. We sat at the bar for a couple of glasses of wine until our meals were ready and what... More
