Reasonable price good meal.

Visited today and had the sea bass. Beautifully cooked and presented and at £12.50 felt it was a good price. Dessert was a delicious lemon crunch ice cream . Cheerful staff but decor a bit tired - especially the carpet! Tables and chairs in the garden instead of benches would be nice as it was... read more

£9:50 for a baguette! ...... and 'disinterested' young staff. Place needs a good tidy up outside. Shabby.

We go regularly to The Black Horse, it is by far the most outstanding restaurant in the area. When I say restaurant, you can either eat in the restaurant or eat in the bar area; the word 'gastro-pub' does not do this establishment justice, it is far more than that. We always choose to eat in the bar area which... More

My husband and I went for lunch here recently on a Saturday, the atmosphere was peaceful and very relaxing. The young girl that served us with our meal was very attentive. I had the most beautful Sea Bass it was fresh delicious, and hot! And my husband had battered plaice, also delicious and all served with a smile! We will... More

Just a very average meal that offered nothing new or innovative. Something you could have made at home.

Good meal and excellent live entertainment from The Haddocks! They made our evening! Lead and base guitarists and drummer playing music from 70's and 80's - they knew loads of music and were great fun

Poor carvery, poor food vegetables were over cooked as was the beef , man behind the carvery ( obviously not a chef ) spent the whole time pouring juices over the meat. Joints that were overcooked, sorry bad. Carvery poor surroundings won't go back !!!

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding in the area and this was the only place with availability even 3 months out. As we got to our room there was an awful smell of what I can only describe as sick, someone obviously had one too many the night before!! Luckily the windows opened wide and everything else... More

My short review would be "avoid". This pub is tired and our food (a crab sandwich and a ploughman' lunch) reminded me of the standard of food you used to get from pubs in the 1970s. It tasted like the ingredients had come from a cheap bulk catering wholesaler. My ploughmans had a nice chunk of cheap-tasting margarine to spread... More
