Disappointing visit after previous good experience

We visited the Horseshoes as had enjoyed it before. Only wanted a snack this time as wanted to pick up Thai curry from Black Horse to eat at home with fizz on Valentines! We we Not told there was a long wait,as an adjacent table was so assumed ok for sandwich. It took half an hour! My Cajun... read more

Thank you so much for submitting a review. I am so sorry that your experience was not as good as it should have been. I agree half an hour is an unacceptable wait for a sandwich and am extremely annoyed that it did not arrive in the correct "bakery bread" - it certainly should have! I have spoken to the... More

Called in for an evening meal as the menu was so varied - something to suit everyone in our party of 6. It was very busy and we did have to wait possibly longer than usual but not a problem for us as we loved the warm, cosy room and pleasant atmoshere. The meals were lovely - all perfectly cooked... This charming pub offers a very friendly staff, a roaring fire, and excellent food. Great for dinner or a late evening pint!

Read the pub's website, to get a flavour of why the Horseshoe is different. It's straight up and down, popular, atmospheric, no gastro this and that, and no Farrow and Ball paint schemes. Ideal for meat eaters.

Quality pub grub with a twist, well kept ales, decent wines, and even decent coffee. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic steaks from local butcher. You have the meat brought to the table and you can choose the cut and size of steak you want.....it's then cooked to perfection! We get our meat from the same butcher now. Lovely friendly pub with great atmosphere.

Dropped in for a well-earned pint and found The Horseshoe to be warm, welcoming and a nice pint too (we had tried the Black Horse earlier but this place is far nicer). We'll definitely be making another visit.

We were made welcome by the owner who went out of his way to suggest the local beers for us to try, even giving us a sample of the local gin, which was far too strong for me to drink!. The evening meal was delightfully served and exceeded our expectations
