Good alternative to The George

We arrived here after finding out that The George was closed. However, it was more than a pleasant alternative. My bacon and brie sandwich was delicious and the chips were truly amazing, definitely the one sandwich I would recommend. I knew I wanted it from the minute I saw it. It was reasonably... read more

Lovely people, open fires, good beer, great food, wonderful Sunday lunches but book - they are popular, and most of all excellent bar staff - real friendly genuine people.

Based on previous reviews, we decided to have lunch here en route to the Cotswolds Distillery in nearby Stourton. Arriving at around 12:45 and needing to leave by 13:40, we assumed there'd be plenty of time. In the event, we did leave at 13:40, but it seemed touch-and-go at one point. The Horseshoe is a lovely old building, with a... More

I visited the Horseshoe for a friends birthday. A large party is never easy, but our waitress Danielle was fantastic. Service was quick and the food was delicious. It was difficult to choose from all the lovely options (and all locally sourced!). We were able to change orders at the last minute, add deserts after we'd seen how lovely others... More

I have been using the Horseshoe for a number of years to both eat & drink in & have found it to be a fabulous pub with fabulous staff who are polite & friendly. I find it very sad that someone felt it necessary to name a young lady whose language they found offensive - whilst I agree bad language... More

It was raining and miserable outside but we had a relaxed afternoon in warm and friendly traditional pub surroundings. Our meals were excellent, well presented and good value.

Not bad food but nothing special. Juke box can be intrusive. Cosy in winter and pleasant courtyard with weekend live music from local talent.

In the past few weeks, myself and my wife have had a meal for two from the main menu and also a family celebration in which we all had the carvery. Both times, the food and the service have been excellent. The bill for the family meal (6 adults and 2 kids) with carvery meal, puddings and drinks came to... More
