After visiting this restaurant regularly and comparing it to other restaurants we have visited I feel I have to write on here about the value for money of the Steak meals. Last night we visited as we have on many Sunday nights to use Taste Card for 2 Fillet Steaks, if it was not for the fact that we get... More

We came here with the family for a birthday, nice interior and not too crowded. The menu is nicely varied, definitely not for vegetarians but the clue is in the name! The 2 stand out dishes were the duck faggots and the mixed grill - both absolutely delicious and really nicely presented. Opted for puddings instead of starters and again,... More

Good Beer (pedigree) and nice food so 3 stars. Had the unusuall handmade steak and kidney pies which was a little dry but full of meat however, Considering the place was virtually empty on a Tuesday lunchtime I struggled to understand why the service was so slow in getting the food out to us. Still on the positive side the... More

This wad a bit of a dissapointment but it is located in a really great place. We had the Steak and Ale Pie - rather small but plenty of pastry - very little veg - very few chips. The service was not at all friendly or reassuring with regard to the staff actually wanting us there at all. But I... More

Went for a business meeting. The steak was absolutely gorgeous couldn't fault it. We had a sharing board to start (2 for four of us) and they were lovely. The sauces with the steak not too good and the chips and onion rings very greasy. Apart from that all good. Staff great too.

We visited The Redgate on the back of some good reviews however our experience was mixed. Pro's were: Great mixed grill ... Good starters ... Family friendly ... Excellent burgers. However the Con's outweigh those: meals not coming at the same time ... Run out of signature steak n ale pies which where only I formed of after ordering ...... More

We eat at the Redgate a lot and it has never failed to impress. All the food is locally scored and you can tell its high quality. The customer service is 2nd to none. Wonderful times always had here.

My wife and I visited the red gate steak pub after a good experience 12 months ago. What's happened? The food was dreadful! The steak was inedible and the chips and onion rings were dipping in grease! How disappointing. :(

Visited The Red Gate several times as it's local and have always found the staff helpful and polite the decor is to a high specification and trendy with plenty of space and full of nooks and crannies , I particularly enjoy the log fire! The homemade pies of which there are three different kinds,my favourite being steak and ale .....are... More

Great place for a nice steak and the hand made pies are exceptionally good. The pub serves many real ales and the staff are friendly and the service efficient. A great selection of nook and crannies to sit and eat and/or drinks if you don't want to sit in the main restaurant. Nice log fires in the winter!
