Nice place to stop on the way home if you live locally or if you are visiting a local attraction. They offer a small two for £10.00 menu and the normal menu is of a good size. We had two main meals and a bottle of wine for £28.00. I would eat here again, although if you're a fussy eater... More

My wife little girl and I dined at The Gate last night. We live in a village only 5 minutes drive away and had been recommended to try this venue by a relative. Really glad we did. It was a freezing cold night but the pub was lovely and warm with the heating blasting away. Nice lighting, music at right... More

We visited on our way back from Bosworth Battlefield for a change from our usual visit to The Millers nearby. Upon entering it felt a little strange. Usually at a pub like this, I would expect to find our own table then order at the bar but here we were greeted (slightly oddly) and semi-shown to a choice of tables... More

If your after a quick meal at a reasonable price the Gate is good enough for that. The staff were friendly and service was quick. We had the meatballs with Leicester red cheese with vegetables which was very nice. Would i recommend, Quick meal yes, Special event no,

After a visit to the theatre in Leicester on Christmas Eve, my wife and i simply wanted a good meal quickly served. We thought we would try the Gate Inn as it was not far off our route on our journey home. What a good decision! We walked in and ordered two steaks and were served quite quickly. The steaks... More

Had dinner here mid-week. The rib-eye steak was cooked well and tender. The liver and bacon was also cooked well and very tasty. Well kept real ale too. Attentive, friendly and polite staff. This is a Marston's pub so the menu is pretty pub standard but the quality was better than your average pub grub. The decor is modern, comfortable,... More

This is very run of the mill. Nothing too exciting, then nothing to complain about. Just very basic pub grub. Better value for money elsewhere locally.

This was our first visit this year and still great value. The two for ten pound deal is brilliant, I had the plaice while two friends had the gammon and my wife had the pasta. All plates were well filled and we were served by a very friendly and efficient young waitress. Including drinks and desserts for all four the... More

Although the staff are very friendly, that does not compensate for the overpriced sandwich. It was described as something like "West Country Cheddar - hand cut bread etc etc. It arrived, minus the chutney. When the chutney eventually arrived, it was little more than a teaspoon full. The cheese was grated and I would guess just straight from a pack... More

I have not been here for years after several poor reports from friends. Well I can safely say that they have turned it around. The service is great. They take all your order at the table now. The menu is a little limited but good standard choices. Food seemed as though it is cooked to order. Price is excellent! I... More
