The Horse and Jockey is a privately owned business in the village of Congerstone, a short distance from the centre of Market Bosworth. Set in pretty countryside, alongside the Ashby canal network and Ivanhoe cycle path is very popular with tourists throughout the summer. The business boasts a popular seperate restaurant, a spacious room that is both informal and relaxing. The menu offerings have emphasis on flavours, freshness and good value and what we have created is a modern approach to traditional favourites. We also have a seperate bar and lounge area where you can enjoy an open fire, cask ales, a varied wine menu and great selection of malt whiskies. In addition to the restaurant we have a bar menu offering a simpler, lighter approach to eating with us but without compromising our cooking principles. In the summer you can enjoy the weather using our large garden area or maybe on the terrace. We also host regular live music which compliments the style of the business. Brilliant food

We have been to the restaurant a number of time and always had excellent food. Menu is not massive but the quality is great. Prices are reasonable between £14 - £25 for mains. Pub also has good evening entertainment on some nights (Tues & Fri). Will be back for more great food soon.

The service stood out for us at this pub which was a welcome surprise for a Saturday evening. We only had mains and I had the fillet steak (£24) and it was the best steak I had ever had! I asked for medium rare, it came out very rare but it still tasted great. The only reason why this pub... More

We visit the Horse and Jockey regularly and have nothing but good things to say. The venue itself, the food and drink, the staff, all are excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit for any occasion.

Got a bit lazy recently, not writing reviews for TA, however this pub is worth the heads up. Travelling the Ashby Canal, itself a lovely waterway, we decided to have a meal out. Moored up by Bridge 47, it's a short walk along a quiet road to the pub. This is not your average village pub, it's more a bistro/antique... More

Was staying in a nearby B&B, so this was very conveniently placed for me. Ate here 3 times, had something different each time. Each meal was delicious - good ingredients, cooked perfectly, presented well on the plates and wonderful to eat. I must also praise the serving staff, efficient but unobtrusive.

Booked a table for 4 online. Received an email confirming the date and time. This was a celebratory meal as my son had recently proposed to his girlfriend while on holiday. We looked online for the menu. Arrived early but we were asked if we wished to be taken straight to the table or have a drink in the bar.... More

"...seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matthew 7:7-8) We went and knocked, and it has been opened. And grace came on us. Really: grace in food and in service. At the recommendation of the bed and breakfast where we had booked, we went to H & J. Nice local, super friendly staff, a... More

It was a hot Wednesday afternoon and we'd moored up at Congerstone wharf for a break from our cruise up the Ashby canal and to take the opportunity to phone ahead to the Rising Sun at Shackerstone to book a table for the evening. Disappointed to be told that 'We don't serve food on Wednesdays' (contrary to all their local... More
