Excellent little restaurant

Happened across this little pub on our way back from Thorpe park, and so glad we did, staff were brilliant, the place was spotless, as where the toilets, excellent menu, loads of specials, kids meals were huge and adult portions were exactly that, everyone said their food was lovely, even the kids... read more

This gastro pub has a lively atmosphere, a good selection of beers and a strong reputation for its pies. In our party one person had a rabbit pie which he enjoyed. Another had Duck Wellington which was overcooked. I had the fish pie which was rather watery and contained little fish. One person was served much later than the rest... More

I can't get enough of this lovely food. I've been here 5 times in the last few months and will continue to come back. The fact that it allows small dogs is a bonus too. Highly recommended to anyone passing. Although if I recommend does that mean I'll have problems getting a table in the future? 😀 Staff are very... More

Visit 25.07.2015 - 4 People at Lunch for Food and Drink. We as two couples visited this place on word of mouth recommendations. Parking is ample, and the building is attractive with a small bar area and food seating. They only had 2 ales on tap, one of which was Greene King IPA, which is never a good thing, but... More

Three of us called in for Sunday lunch (or rather we had booked ahead following the reading of excellent reviews). There is an extensive menu - and the chef must love pastry cooking, as there are separate boards of menus for all their Wellingtons (including of course Beef), Pies (we chose three - venison, game and pork), and vegetarian pastry... We decided to eat here on the recommendation of some friends of my mothers. The food was good but not excellent, The first ale I had was a good Timothy Taylor Landlord but the second half had to be a Greene King IPA. Coming from Bury St Edmunds, I feel this pub suffers from being under the "direction" of the... More

We've eaten here several times and always found it enjoyable, but this latest visit fell flat somehow. Perhaps we hit the place on a bad night - we don't come often - but every course and the service lacked the sparkle of a four out of five review. We started with the mussels, green lipped served in the half shell... More

This pub has as a very varied menu with great vegetarian options. We've eaten there on many occasions and it never disappoints. Highly recommended. Very friendly service and food cooked "in house". Great for lunch or an evening meal.

Stopped off here after a train trip out to Virginia Water and a cycle around. We had a nice cold beer and a bite to eat in the beer garden. Relaxing, friendly staff and very tasty pies. I had the rabbit pie which was very good!
