We visited the Clink restaurant and were very very impressed by the service and quality of food. We both had soup starter and for main course we had lamb and salmon, to complete the perfect lunch we finished with the cheese selection, summer berries and coffee. There is a great range of non alcoholic fruit drinks, cocktails. Coffee's and teas. Everything... More

I think to start with, it makes good sense to separate the charitable intention from the eating experience.... To see and experience the work of The Clink in aiming to rehabilitate people leaving prison into a meaningful job, which will surely not only restore their self worth and provide an opportunity for gainful long term employment but also break that... We visited the HMP High Down Clink restaurant last week and absolutely loved the experience we had there. Had we not been escorted in through security and taken through a category B prison we would have thought we were at a classy restaurant any day. The fact that we were in a prison made the lunch even more interesting and... More

Aside from the obviously special circumstances of the restaurant being inside a high security prison both the food and service were excellent ... and the cost was a fair reflection of the experience; don't go expecting a cheap meal just because it's cooked and served by inmates. Of course any restaurant will have blips which may explain the odd indifferent... More

This restaurant is staffed by prisoners at High Down in training for a catering career on release. Let's just say a visit for lunch is "an experience!" rather than a culinary pleasure. You have to book in advance providing personal details, pay by cheque as cards and cash are not accepted, leave mobiles and any sharp objects (tweezers!) in a... More

We went today to celebrate my partner's birthday. It was a surprise- you can imagine his face as we drove into the prison, since he's never heard of 'The Clink'. The menu was very good, the service from the inmates friendly and polite. My trio of berry desserts was excellent. The main courses were very good, although nouveau cuisine size-... More

We dined at the Clink last summer and we could not fault anything from the service to the food and the friendliness of both the staff and the service staff (the inmates in training)…would definitely recommend you go for a meal…5+ Star…

I stumbled across this on trip advisor and surprised by the rave reviews decided to give it a try. The booking process took about a week, so be prepared to plan in advance. It's took about 3/4 of an hour to check in and about 1/2 an hour to be escorted out, but do not let this put you off,... More
