I have been ringing to book lunch here fr early February but they obviously do not need any custom as no one ever answers the calls; goes straight onto answer phone and no one replies to messages left. Will not ever try to book here again and will pass this on to friends who are in that area. Can't comment... More

I visited The Yew Tree a few days ago, the last time being about 30 years ago. A bit of a difference! We popped in for a lunch after being disappointed by not being able to go to The Skimmington Castle because of flooding problems. I, or my hubby, didn't have wellies so we had to look for somewhere else... More

Previously we've had good experiences and on occasion very good. This time, however, disappointment. I hope this is not a manifestation of the 'curse of complacency' that seems to particularly affect pub/restaurants. We had booked a late Sunday lunch for four adults and two (small) children. On arrival both the pub and restaurant were a lot quieter than on other... More

I popped in to the Yew Tree for a beer and a bite to eat whilst having a read of my newspare from the hotel next door. The place was quiet and was shown quickly to my table. I hadn't realised I was in a gastropub where the food and the service was much better than I had been anticipating.... More

We decided upon the 'Yew Tree' thanks to an existing Trip Adviser report, which indicated it was run by the same management as the Sportsman Pub in nearby Mogador, which we knew to be a good standard. We booked a table for two for Sunday lunch. The pub/restaurant is nicely decorated in an 'Arts and Crafts' style, lots of wooden... More

This was our first visit to the Yew Tree but hopefully will not be our last. We stopped here for dinner last Friday whilst travelling through from a meeting. We did not have a booking and despite being busy with a large family party and other bookings we were given a lovely table for 2. The menu was great with... More

My neice and and nephew were visiting the family and the Yew Tree was chosen as a central point for us all to meet up. A table for 6 was booked for the eve of the 14th November 2014. I arrived first and was met with a warm and pleasent atmosphere. I asked for a bitter shandy it was served... More

After quite some visits in March to May earlier this year, I was finally back this week. Great to experience that the quality of the food remained at a remarkable high level, specially as the Yew Tree is a Gastro pub at a location where one might not expect such good food... This time I went for the Yew Tree... More

As a recent visitor and again in October the standard of service and quality of food remains consistently good. As a lover of steak I would go elsewhere for my steak as I like sirloin and fillet and just wish they would replace the rump which is a cheap cut and not good value. The remainder of the menu however... More
