Good place to catch up with chums

Met a couple of friends I hadn't seen for ages at the Glamorgan. I think that this pub gets it right on most fronts. Good selection of beers, real ales and wines. Not too noisy so we could chat without shouting. As about half the pub is reserved for customers eating, there is limited casual... read more

If you can get past the smokers arrogantly blocking the front door, you'll find a boring range of cask ales, expensive (but OK) food, and little atmosphere. This pub is in decline and these days seems to be attracting clientele who can't communicate without saying f*** every other word. Not an inspiring experience.

Went in for a few drinks one evening with friends I hadn't seen for ages. Didn't stay for very long as the drinks were extortionate and the blonde barmaid was very rude, had a terrible attitude as if it was a huge burden us asking for a few ciders and made us feel very unwelcome. It put a huge dampener... More

I recently met here with a good friend for a couple of drinks and some socialising. The ambience of the place was poor - overlit, without many soft comfortable seating (one of which was a sofa directly next to one of the bars which would ruin any kind of intimate gathering!). Most of the staff were relatively friendly but there... More

We visited this so called gastro pub a few years ago and came up against a vile, stupid woman behind the bar and walked out. As we were walking past the other week thought we would give this place another try. Not a lot has changed. Food for what is put in front of you is well overpriced, with my other half... More

This is an excellent gastropub in unassuming surroundings. It's run by a friendly South African and a number of the dishes and wines are South African, like the delicious bunny chow. Main menu items and specials are clearly displayed or explained (with prices) and service is friendly and attentive. Food is sublime with really tasty fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked and... I love coming here .... Reliable and good value for the price. A strange manager and who cares Until.... Tonight there were no prices on the special board but all mains priced at £8-10 (except special steak at £19) I thought i shall try different and ordered what was meant to be a skewer with pork, lamb and chicken in... Rainy night in Croydon my expectations were not high, when it said on the door the best place to eat in Croydon I thought this was probably true, as it was the ONLY place, apart from several very tired Indian and pizza takeaways, the latter with queues of seemingly underage motorcycle delivery boys outside. But it was brilliant. Friendly service,... More

I've eaten here before and it has be excellent but last night there was something wrong. My steak, ordered medium rare was over cooked, even for a rip eye and had that taste of burned fat that seemed to indicate it was cooked on a non-to-clean griddle.. in the end though, it was fine. Good chips. But the one thing... More

Been here about a dozen times over the last 3 years, food is always very good, the house burger is one of the best I have ever had, other mains and starters great too, usually too full for dessert but have had the cheeseboard once which is very good. Staff when I have visited have always been very friendly and... More
