Outside it's a lovely looking building but inside it's just not being looked after. I attended a function there and thought the conservatory extremely tired and in need of a good clean especially the light fittings with the dead flies! Outside it's a lovely looking building but inside it's just not being looked after. I attended a function there and thought the conservatory extremely tired and in need of a good clean especially the light fittings with the dead flies! The route upstairs to the toilets all needs redecorating, very, very shabby. Considering the size and popularity of this place... More

From the outside it looks impressive as an old House. The car park is a little small considering the numbers it caters for. Inside is a series of rooms, mostly gloomy looking suiting the house age, but over inviting. The bar is large but only had two pump ales on, so not for beer buffs, but had everything else you... We were amazed how busy this restaurant gets on a Saturday, especially between 3 - 6 when we wanted a table. Perhaps it's because they price some of the mains cheaper before 6:30. Our food was good. Fish and Chips quite good as well as the Salmon Linguini. The steak could have done with a sauce option but it was... More

I booked for 35 family members to celebrate my 50th with me. We were in the "cottage room" and as usual we had a great evening. The staff were great and even with 35 people we were not kept waiting for drinks or our food. The staff are always friendly whenever we eat here so it was a no brainer... More

The food is bad, and although it's not expensive, it's expensive for bad food. They offer a pretty limited selection of drinks, and it takes forever to get served. But the building is lovely, and the garden (albeit a bit plain) is large, and quite nice for drinks in the summer time. It's quite removed from town, but it's a... More

Attached to next door Premier Inn, but disconnected. Could be a lovely property with some TLC. Staff are unloved and it shows except for the guy who looked after us at breakfast who was a superstar. Watch out for grilled food at breakfast. Danger you will taste fish from the night before! Yuk. 3 stars because it's priced at budget... More

A midweek lunch. You could measure the dust on the panelling in the restaurant and the outer edges of the large mirror on the wall might have been cleaned some time last year. Although the waiter serving us was outwardly polite and used the right words it was quite obvious he hated both the job and the customers. We waited... More

There was a severe shortage of staff. Long waits between taking drinks order and then taking main order; then an even longer wait between courses. But after we had finished, it took over 30 mins before they came to ask if we wanted the bill.

This a great for family meals. There is a very wide choice of English "pub" food at very reasonable prices. The place is enormous so I never need to book and in the summer there are lots of tables outside so kids can run around in the extensive gardens. The service is very friendly and nothing is ever too much... More
