Aqua Mediterranean Meze Bar and Grill is the brainchild of two highly experienced chefs, Dasos Charalambous and Dario Nardo. Both have trained and worked in some of London's top hotels and seized the chance to open their own restaurant when the right premises came up in South End. Aqua Brasserie Croydon They liked the look of the contemporary-styled eaterie at 33-35 South End and with a few tweaks here and there to lend just a little more sophistication, opened their brasserie. "Our aim is to offer people a place where they can enjoy quality food, at reasonable prices in a place where they can sit and chill," said Dasos. And I have to say the food really is first class. It's nothing too fancy - just simple, quality food cooked to perfection.

The hot king prawns are to die for!!!!

We have taken it upon ourselves to eat somewhere new every month within walking distance of home. Last night it was this rather lovely place. We both started with the hot king prawns - outstanding although we were a little disappointed they had run out of bread so had to ask for soup spoons to... read more

Briefly; service was ok, bread, olives, olive oil and balsamic dip was fine. Starter; hallumi salad £7 tasteless and rubbery. Main course; roast cod with pancetta and risotto, cod was cooked nicely but not pancetta it was streaky bacon which was fatty and flabby not crisp.. No dessert shared a bottle of wine was ok. Price £38 each. Very expensive... More

Décor and ambiance is great, however, service is slow and I had to ask to order after waiting for sometime. Food is average, very salty in my opinion, and the mixed grilled was bland and a little on the tough side, with a lot of gristle. Beer selection is good. We used tastecard, and while that saved us money, they... More

Used aqua on several occasions but on this night the food was very average and expensive and nothing to write home about. Their is better value for money in the high street and won't be using this restaurant again.

Came here as we were passing through and Mediterranean food always appeals. What annoyed me most was just how bland and uninspiring the food was. I had the Kleftiko and the meat itself was okay but the roast potatoes were awful and on a par with frozen supermarket ones. The veg - broccoli, cauliflower, green beans - was undercooked and... Came here for a special occasion last night and we were really impressed. The lighting and decor makes for an intimate atmosphere (although was quite noisy later due to a large group). Menu is varied with lots of choice. We opted for the grilled halloumi and cypriot meatballs to start which were both lovely. Good portion size and presentation. Main... More

What can I say about Aqua? I'll be honest, I was in the mood for a steak and the best steak house is exactly next to Aqua so I decided to go there. I accidentally walked into Aqua and sat down. The greeting was somewhat average, but as soon as I handed the menu I realized that it was a... More

First visit on a Saturday evening and first impressions weren't good. We were seated at the back near the kitchen although offered another table but near a very large group, so we refused. Faux leather chairs were ripped and worn and my fears were heightened. These fears were soon ameliorated as the service was fast and friendly and the patron... More

We visited on a Saturday lunch. The restaurant was half full. I had the tiger prawns to start followed by the prawn linguine. Both were cooked to perfection and generous portion. I had the tiramisu for dessert which was delicious. Stunning food, great atmosphere and the service was spot on.Will be back soon.
