My grandparents ran this pub in the 40s 50s 60s and 70s and a couple of bits of memorabilia with my Grandad's name on are still on show. In the time since they left it's had some highs and lows but the last couple of years have been a real low so I delighted under it's new management it's on... More

The Red Lion is position 24 out of 50 reviewed spots. It deserves a higher position, here's why. The meal enjoyed this week was the home made steak and ale pie and it was home made, thats why we had to wait 25 minutes on the pastry baking, no pre cooked item here. So that deserves a point up the... More

I visited Redlion for Mother's Day lunch . The starters were very bland . The meat was faultless on the main course but the roast potatoes were rock hard and none of us ate the Yorkshire puddings as they were burnt . We tried saying this to the waitress but were told to leave if we weren't happy. ! Then... More

I am sorry that you say you did not enjoy your meals. The fact that you found your starters bland is news to me as a couple of your party commented on how good they were! When you commented on the Yorkshire puddings to the waitress she said that she would speak to me and she never asked you to... More

Went over 3 weeks ago on a Sunday tea time, the bar was busy but got served swiftly. The bar staff are really friendly and the regulars are too. I've read the negative comments but have to disagree went during the following week and had the 2 for £10 deal being fish and chips for me and my wife and... More

The Red Lion was a very well established Restaurant and Pub with a fantastic atmosphere which sold good food and also catered for the locals who wanted the odd pint or two. It has some how lost all it's sparkle, it still has good food but with no atmosphere, it feels cold, the staff are polite and attentive, but that... More

Thanks to all the staff at the red lion made for a great nite to celebrate my mums birthday. Food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was great and would recommend this establishment for a celebration or pop in for a quiet meal.

Popped out last evening to the Red Lion for a quick bite as it is under new management says the banner outside. It is a pub which does food and it does what it says on the tin. Good food at a reasonable cost and served with a smile. You can not ask for more.
