Great pub, great landlord

I have been going here for 15 years now and I have to say this place has been transformed by the current landlord. Nothing is too much trouble and he always helps out the local community. I must also say that I have never seen any of his dogs in the pub or kitchen ever so not sure where that... read more

I went up on Mother's Day with my partner & her 2 children for a family celebration at about 5.30pm & what a great day we all had. The pub was very busy which I always believe reflects on how well a pub is established & would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and management for... More

I have drank at this pub for 20 years with my family but on our last visit the landlord made us feel like second class citizens for being in the garden with our dog. He stood at the bar drinking all night making comments about other customers and ourselves and then preceded to come outside and continue looking down on... More

Lovely food, 3 cask ales in excellent condition -Bass, plus 2 guest. A varied menu, good quality pub grub ++++. The beer garden is superb- under the shadow of the village church, with the brook trickling by. A beautiful spot. Great staff. DEFINITELY worth a visit.

Went for Sunday lunch with friends, there are not many sitting areas to have a drink only, its mainly set out as a restaurant for eating. The wine was good and a good varied menu. I went for the Roast Turkey which was very lean served with pigs in a blanket and stuffing. The temperature was warm and edible but... More

The place could do with a good clean. The food was just ok. The staff wasn't that friendly and the landlord was more like an ornament. Ok ok ok. Wouldn't go back.....

My family meet up before every Christmas at a restaurant half way between my brothers home and ours. Last year we had a great meal at the Spread Eagle and decided to repeat it again this year (before Xmas 2014). A bad mistake. The meal in 2013 was excellent; this was a bad disappointment. The barman slopped the drinks down... More

Had fish and chips off the 2 course for £11.95 menu on Monday evening. My friend and I are still debating what fish it was. The colour was grey and it was quite slimey, not very nice at all. The batter was very crispy at the ends however the rest of it was slimey and inedible. Chips were frozen in... More
