I can see why the Old Rock gets such mixed reviews. It's a pleasant enough place for a drink and packet of crisps but, located where it is, it should (and could) be so much more brilliant. Sadly, its aspirations lie too low. Its many boasts of that non-sequitur beloved of so many country pubs ('homecooked food') sells but fails... More

This is not really a dog friendly pub. We booked as it was a Sunday and on arrival found our reserved table in a back room with small metal tables, a dartboard and a pool table. After a very short discussion we decided to sit outside as the weather was in our favour, this was fortunate as the room was... More

It's not often I can find an wheelchair accessible pub but we were recommended this from a staff member at Alton towers. I called ahead and I was assured I didn't need to book in advance and we arrived around 8.30pm. The place was. Packed with people at the bar ordering food and waiters running around serving. I asked one... More

A 7-strong group of friends decided that a proper meal was in order after some walking in The Roaches. Ye Olde Rock Inn was our first choice and we weren't disappointed. Great location, decent parking and nice atmosphere were just a prelude to what happened next. After ordering 7 meals we enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub. We didn't have... More

Perhaps one of the worst meals I've ever had the displeasure to pay for. We were a group of 7 with no reservations and were hunting for somewhere local to Buxton or Leek to eat. A road sign pointed the way to 'Ye Olde Rock Inn' and a table was available. Looking back; I wish they were fully booked and... More

Went for a meal, we were hungry and looking forward to it...been once before and thought it was nice food..but 2nd time wasn't so lucky! Had a hair on my steak looked like off a woolly jumper? When all three of our dinners arrived straight away noticed all our chips looked fried plus refried plus refried they were chewy chips... More

Myself & my partner decided to visit Ye Olde Rock Inn today for Sunday lunch. We arrived just before 3pm & the first thing we did was to ask the bar staff if they were still serving Sunday lunches. As the young girl said 'yes they were' we bought drinks & found a table, then ordered & paid for the... More

Large party booking extremely well looked after. Our organiser had pre ordered and service was superb. The meals were brought out table by table and the staff called our names to avoid confusion. Generous sized meals were of a very good quality, any sauces etc requested were quickly provided. We probably stayed longer than expected but no one rushed us... More

This pub claims to be dog friendly, but be warned it isn't, only room available is a sad room at the back of the pub of which the main event is a pool table (our dog is frightened of the noise of the balls clicking together) there are no tables in this room to eat food, we decided to eat... More
