Great return visit

Great pub grub for a reasonable price in a lovely location. The adults ate off the specials board and they were well cooked and tasty. The children's meals were a great size and good selection. Although it was quite busy our wait was not long and the service was good. Will be calling again.

Just picked this pub on the off chance to meet up with friends. Great choice, the meal we had was really nice, good size portions, very tasty and good choice. Would recommend it and wished we lived closer. My veggie meal was one of the nicest pub meals I have had.

such a shame the location is great the pub is great but its the food ,we had sunday lunch beef dinner and it was something you would expect from a cheap blackpool cafe not a country pub ,what this place needs is a good chef with a bit of passion

We called here for lunch after a walk in the Roaches. It was Sunday lunch and we were a little grubby but it wasn't a problem. The pub is possibly a little old fashioned inside but it's more a throwback to how pubs were 10 or years ago before so many went trendy and pretentious. The Rock is comfy with... More

With some trepidation we went to this local pub. Fearing a local where the door opens and everyone stops and stares at the strangers... That certainly didn't happen! A welcoming relaxed environment (with amazing home-cooked chips). Everyone was more than pleasant, we had arrived just at the end of a big number of covers and had waited a bit for... More

Went here to check out the hot rock. I had a rump and my Mum had the fillet. Meat was tough, including the fillet at £19.95 I expect much more. The food was not seasoned at all. Only good thing was the fries. I would steer well clear.

We stopped here on a Sunday lunchtime during a journey back south from the Peak district. We were warmly welcomed by the staff on our arrival. The pub and restaurant was busy - we saw what looked to be lovely plates of food being served which explained why it was busy. We decided to eat - the food was good... More

We stopped here with our dog after a lovely walk. Food was lovely, home cooked and good size portions. Great options for vegetarians, even vegan options on the menu, very rare!! Will defiantly be back when we are that way. Great traditional pub in beautiful surroundings :)

Has two lovely meals here whilst camping down the road. Fab choice, good portions of home cooked food in a traditional pub. Real ale also available. Highly recommended.
