We decided to try Rambler's Retreat because they have a good selection of vegetarian dishes and a few vegan dishes. It was hard to tell which were vegan from the menu, but the waiter was helpful in steering us to the ones we wanted. By far the favorite was the Cottage Pie, but the others were good too. To top... We visited the Ramblers Retreat after a long walk in Dimmingsdale which was full of amazing spring scenery. Some other reviews on trip advisor about this place, I think are stupid- we had an absolutely amazing time. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly, the views were one of a kind and the food was delectable- especially the Lemon Meringue... More

Very nice setting, but we never got our toasted teacake, they gave it to someone else even though they gave us a buzzer which would ring so we could collect it from the counter.

We visited the Ramblers Retreat with friends and family where we had an absolutely amazing time. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. We sat in the conservatory looking out onto their beautiful gardens which are the best I've ever seen at a tea room/ Restaurant. For our food we had their wonderful steak, ale and mushroom pie which was... More

Although the service was okay, the food was awful. My grandson had a "half sandwich" which was all dried up. My granddaughter had spaghetti bolognese which tasted of plastic container. As such it was unedible. My wife had a jacket potato with tuna. Looked like they'd just opened the tin & piled it on. They wouldn't mix the tuna with... More

Love this place. Dripping scones with tea, chalets to peek at birds, attractive waiters- it is all a tourist could want. A wonderful location near one of the most beautiful walks in the district and superb food. I have returned to this tea room countless times after desultory walks in the area, and never been disappointed.

We visited with my parents and 20 month old son one lunchtime. To be fair we didn't book, and so were told that the only tables available were in the snug (the waiter was almost apologetic) and the snug did indeed live up to its name! For four people it was a squash! Two of us ordered the open sandwich... More

Stopped by after a nice long walk, which we found on their website (very handy!). Parked in their car park, which was very convenient... the walk took about two hours in total, and the instructions were pretty easy to follow - although we did go off track once.. oops. The cake is huge, and the coffee pretty good. Staff were... More

Often a very busy place, the staff never appear to be rushed and they are always helpful and polite. You will always get superb service here and it is one of the best places in the area to stop for a quick drink, a snack or even a full meal. The quirky surroundings add to the atmosphere and for those... More

We visited over Christmas but I have been here many times before. The setting is beautiful with fantastic surrounding walks - hence the name! We reserved our table earlier that morning as it does get very busy. Service was fast and efficient and the room was warm and cosy with tasteful decoration. The food was freshly prepared and portions are... More
