My wife and I visited on a cold January morning, we were greeted warmly and the restaurant was very comfortable. The service was excellent and so was the food, good quality ingredients, cooked well. I would highly recommend a visit.

My family and I dined at the Ramblers just before Christmas, what a treat! We had a beautiful Turkey dinner with all of the trimmings and lovely fresh vegetables. The portion sizes were generous and the staff were very attentive and friendly, a lovely homely atmosphere. We then had a delicious home made lemon meringue pie which was magnificent! Make... More

We have now been to the Ramblers Retreat twice and both times were good. It is a great little stop off after a walk and even more so after Sunday as it was quite cold outside so the warm and cosy area that we were able to sit in did just the trick. We didn't have a reservation but they... More

We visit this lovely place very frequently. A lovely dog walk followed by coffee and snack lunch in the garden. Out in the garden in all weather s . You can even sit in one of cute potting sheds if you wish. We once organised our daughters birthday orienteering in and around the woodland finished with a roast dinner for... More

I have learned to my cost that many good restaurants become disappointing over the busy run -up to Christmas, and so I never expect too much. However, visited the Rambler's Retreat for a Christmas Lunch with the East Staffs ramblers group today and enjoyed a really lovely meal with very good service. The food was very well -presented, hot and nicely... More

We have been coming to the Ramblers for a long time, and two things never change - the slightly hit and miss service, and the great food! The garden is an ongoing project - there seems to be even more seating this year, though it is never enough for the many who come here. However it still retains the quaint,... More

I have been coming here for years and love it! You can park up or walk to it, but either way you can sit and have anything from an ice cream to a three course meal. There is a choice of places to sit, from tables under umbrellas to the 'huts', when you need real cover, and if you wish... More

Wow what a great hideaway for lunch, very generous portions and great staff. I had a baguette filled with cheese and chutney and a extra side of chips. It was filled to the brim and the chips where top class. A very popular place but loads of room to sit either in the snugg, conservatory , gardens or the garden... More
