The Ramblers Retreat is an award winning country tearoom nestled in the Dimmingsdale, part of the beautiful Churnet Valley in Staffordshire. Our menu is homemade using only the best ingredients, many of which are sourced from local suppliers in the Staffordshire Moorlands. And as well as a delicious meal you can also enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of Dimmingsdale, this spectacular valley by following one of the established woodland walks. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Little expensive for what it was.

Called here after a walk around Diminsdale. This is a gem of a place in a wonderful setting. We sat outside in the dog friendly garden. We ordered our baguettes with chips at the little hatch and sat down to enjoy our drinks in the sunshine. Soon after our buzzer went off to signal that our... read more

The staff went out of their way to help us to chose a suitable area in the restaurant where my Daughter-in-Law could breastfeed our 3 month old granddaughter. They took our order but waited until the baby was settled before they served the food. Had the weather been better we could have eaten in their delightful, picturesque garden or in... More

On Bank Holiday Monday we met with our daughter, son in law and their children at the Ramblers Retreat. As usual they were very busy and the outside seating area was full which speaks volumes about the popularity of the place. We had pre booked a table in the conservatory and were greeted by a charming waitress. Our food, roasts... More

Sat outside in the very nice sunny garden and had a lovely lunch. Reasonable prices and very large portions. Just what we needed after a long walk. Helpful staff. No complaints.

Poor food quality and not enough vegetables to fill you up. We had 4 main meals and the meat and potato pie was over cooked, the fish was the cheapest frozen hake you could buy. The treacle sponge puddings were micro waved and languorously hot! Not a patch on when we last went 2 years ago and they charged us... More

Stopped here with my young children after a visit to the hex tree and for a walk along one of the many footpaths. We were all a bit dishevelled after our walk so didn't feel comfortable in the restaurant part, the garden suited us just fine, particularly as we found a summer house free :-) an amazing place with a... We have eaten at the Ramblers Retreat several times, it is a delightful place to eat, or even just for a coffee. There is the conservatory and snug to eat in which are cosy, but the best part is the garden with summer houses set out with table and chairs, or under pagodas. The menu has a hot section, we... Went for a meal having gone for a walk! I had the steak, ale and mushroom pie with chips and veg. I had the lemon meringue for dessert! All the food was lovely and my family agreed! 😃 my only disappointment was my glass of red wine, which was watery and quite acidic! 😒 never mind... It won't put me... More
