Great service. Great meal. We turned up on a wet Sunday after a weekend at alton towers. It was recommended to us by a young girl working at the The me park. Not easy to find but well worth it. Best meal in ages. They made us feel welcome and it was great value for money.

We arrived near closing time, but the managers still provided us with lovely cakes and ice creams and tea. And what big portions they were! Despite just having washed the floors they allowed us to use the facilities. Very friendly and helpful and such different garden design to admire. Would definitely go again for a longer stay and meal.

This is a very quaint little place in the middle of a walking area of a forrest. I tried my first Oatcakes here which were yummy. They were filled with cheese and were very filling. My fella had a Oatcake Pizza which again was very filling. I all came with chips and these were the best chips I have had... More

We turned up at the restaurant for lunch. After waiting at the 'wait to be seated' sign for five minutes, admiring the straight from the eighties decor, we didn't see any staff. I went to the office and asked if we could have some attention.....and a snack / light menu. I was told they only had main meals. I thought... More

We stumbled upon the Ramblers Retreat after a walk and were delighted with the place. Good food, generous portions and a beautiful setting. Even though it was raining, we sat outdoors underneath the huge umbrellas and enjoyed the little sheds where other people were lunching. Child-friendly and worth a visit.

Went here with my dad, very lovely gardens and peaceful surroundings, staff were very friendly and helpful, lovely little tea room, in an unusual setting. Short walk away is a lake and black swans. A garden you could sit in at back of the tea room all day reading, very impressed with the amount of work put in by the... More

We have been to this place twice now Once we have dropped off the teenagers to Alton towers ( yep I know but it's as safe as it's going to be) We had a nice walk about 2.5 km Then ended up at the ramblers we both had baguette and a side portion of chips All nice and fresh and... More

Set back away from Alton village amongst beautiful scenery the owners have really capitalised on the building's history and location. The option to dine outside in a quaint summer hut is novel and well implemented. There is a large outdoor seating area which I gladly experienced twice in the summer. The menu is typical and quite traditional (ham and cheese... More
