The menu was quite interesting (venison and local caught fish) but not that imaginative. Service was reasonably quick. Lapsewood does not take cards for payment, but there is no sign to say that. Luckily we had enough cash on us, otherwise it would have meant a quick hop to the cash machine.

This is a very welcoming, homely restaurant, which is difficult to find these days. The food is very well cooked and the owners friendly. Not only visitors eat there, but locals as well.I had a pork chop on one of the two nights that we ate there. It was large and moist., and came from the local butchers shop.It was very... More

The title of this review summarises our experiences of eating here. I think this is not the place you choose to eat if you are vegetarian, the salad was ok but the breaded mushrooms were tasteless and seemed as though they were a frozen brand. We liked the games on the table - a 20 years old trivial pursuit set... More

We ate here 3 times and enjoyed it. There is quite a good choice on the menu. My husband had the fresh sole which he said was perfectly cooked. also the service was excellent.

We had a very good experience in this restaurant, the waitress was very cheerful and gave us good advice about the food. I had a dinner from the specials board of venison casserole and it was very good quality, a perfect portion size and paired with a good Chilean red wine. There were four people in my party and we... Friendly service in this long established family run business which serves good value meals. Clearly very popular with the locals which is always a good sign.

We enjoyed a fabulous meal here during a recent visit to Porlock. The salmon was perfectly cooked, which is rare in a restaurant, with lovely seasonal vegetables. The home made fruit pie had the most delicious pastry and we commented that this was as good as home made by a family member who was a professional baker. We thought it... More

Excellent food perfectly cooked and the service is brilliant with personality and humour. We went in one night to try it on the recommendation of our caravan site owners and didn't bother trying anywhere else because we knew we couldn't get any better.
