Relax and unwind while you enjoy the stunning views from our peaceful bedrooms, and outside dining area. The seasonal views of the Valley and Moors are breathtaking (the coastal mist adds real magic to the landscape). Lush green in the spring and summer and full of character and action in autumn and winter. Partridge, pheasant and deer are our companions in the milder months. Staying at The Culbone is a great way to experience life on Exmoor.

Excellent food

We stayed here foor three nights and took the opportunity to have diner twice. That was most cerainly no mistake. This chef is doing a very good job and the steaks were perfect. The blue cheese sause made it even better. During high season you have to make reservations!

We stayed here a few Christmas's ago and enjoyed our stay. We recently went back for a mid week lunch with my parents. The service is second to none and the food is very good and well presented. The Culbone is a relaxing place to eat and stay. Very dog friendly too. Dogs are allowed inside so no need to... More

What a superb restaurant. We ended up going on our final night staying in Porlock for the ever famous "Steak Night". The service was amazing and the staff both friendly and helpful. The menu is brilliant and outlines dietary dishes such as gluten free. It was such a great experience and easy to choose some of my favourite dishes. We... More

Possibly more than 30 years since last visit !! Gone is the typical Exmoor pub with iffy beer and crisps..... Now we have large car park and on entrance a large room set out as a restaurant. Not quite what we expected on Exmoor, but on approaching the bar, received a friendly welcome and given a menu, not extensive but... More

In the middle of nowhere, you really have to make an effort to get to the culbone, and we felt that the effort just wasn't worth it. Half of the menu was unavailable, and all really that was left was steaks, which were served with salad and a jus, Salad and a Jus together? come on chef!

The Culbone is nestled at the top of Porlock Hill on the main road. If you are passing or if you are in the area you really must pay this establishment a visit. We live in Gloucestershire, but we have driven down for the day just to have and enjoy what can only be described as first class food and... More
