Description: Relax and unwind while you enjoy the stunning views from our peaceful bedrooms, and outside dining area. The seasonal views of the Valley and Moors are breathtaking (the coastal mist adds real magic to the landscape). Lush green in the spring and summer and full of character and action in autumn and winter. Partridge, pheasant and deer are our companions in the milder months. Staying at The Culbone is a great way to experience life on Exmoor.

Didn't book (not recommended they were busy and we were lucky) the landlady fitted us in and made us feel very welcome. Great beer - even better wine (Louis latour pino noir v tasty) and great food - highly recommended.

Had a brilliant Sunday lunch on 4th January 2015, we didn't book but were lucky they had a table available. I had the hand carved beef which was excellent; the Yorkshire pudding was one of the best I have tasted. My partner had the deep fried Halloumi with fries and mushy peas, it was presented like traditional fish and chips,... More

Had a pre Christmas dinner along with my son, daughter-in-law and two children age 3 and 2. Great food, pleasant staff and very helpful with an issue that was not related to the restaurant. They have a winter offer, if you book an evening meal you can stay in the hotel for 15 pounds per person with a free breakfast.... More

The location is perfect if you plan to do some walking. However don't be misled if you think you're booking a hotel in Porlocck itself You're not despite the address! It's several miles outside in an admittedly beautiful spot. Dinner was very good and beautifully presented with a good use of local produce. Service was helpful and efficient, and definitely... I visited with a large mixed age party for a birthday meal. My first comment (not criticism) is that this is not a great venue for children. We went on a Friday which we didn't know was fish night where, aside from a few specials, only seaford is on offer. Rightly or wrongly this is a problem with most children... More

Stopped for lunch here during a long day walking. Our dog was welcomed with great enthusiasm which pleased us! (Not for everyone I appreciate) Ordered a burger and a cottage pie. Both meals were really tasty. The atmosphere here is lovely and The Culbone has outstanding views of Exmoor. I understand they also have accommodation available. Can recommend

We went to this restuarant ,as we were staying in the area. I was celebrating a special birthday, and some of the family were joining us to celebrate with me. The staff were very attentive, the food was excellent and beautifully presented. The whole atmosphere of the place was very enjoyable , and we will certainly return if we are... More

We always visit The Culbone when staying in Porlock Weir, the food is amazing, service very good & scenery beautiful! We recently had a meal on the fish night & had fruits de mer, fish was freshest I've ever had, oysters were the best I've ever had!! We enjoyed a delicious evening meal at the Culbone to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It was our first time and we chose to eat there having been unsuccessful in booking a room and noticing that it was a cookery school, restaurant and hotel. We were not disappointed. The food was well cooked and generous and all sourced locally. It... More
