Relax and unwind while you enjoy the stunning views from our peaceful bedrooms, and outside dining area. The seasonal views of the Valley and Moors are breathtaking (the coastal mist adds real magic to the landscape). Lush green in the spring and summer and full of character and action in autumn and winter. Partridge, pheasant and deer are our companions in the milder months. Staying at The Culbone is a great way to experience life on Exmoor.

Very nice service and good food

We booked a table for three last Saturday. The service was very nice - no feeling of being rushed. All three meals were very nice and the atmosphere was good too. It wasn't a cheap evening but we did not expect it to be. Very happy with the experience. We will be going again

Found this restaurant by chance and they were very accommodating as we did not have a reservation, you can see why they were busy, the food was delicious and of a high standard and the wine selection was good. The staff were attentive and friendly and felt it was a good dining experience and would return.

Visited on Bank holiday Friday. Was pretty quite. But the food was pretty good - seemed to be home made quality including things like the bread. Good value for money. they seemed very flexible. easilly the best food we had in Somerset over the weekend.

The Culbone is a real gem, in the middle of nowhere!! The food is modern, contemporary, and well executed, with attention to detail and brilliantly presented. The theme nights are really good value, including the 2 for 1 steak night on a Wednesday. Couldn,t really fault the meal, and it is a great place to stay too.

We dined here for the first time this month. Staying in Hawkcombe, we made the 10 min drive over the moors with coastal views out to sea to this wonderful establishment, nestled amongst the woodlands. The restaurant area was very nice, particularly liked the "Stag" painting. I had a pint of Exmoor ale - great to see local beer being... More

We have driven past this place many times but this time visited. Perched next to the road it does look like a bit of a pub, but inside it is more of a classy style restaurant. We booked and, even though the tables were half empty for our visit, people were turned away due to reservations for later – so... More

We are very lucky to visit Porlock several times a year and one of our favorite thing to do is to eat at The Culbone,.The hotel is a family run hotel and they are always so very friendly and are always happy to see us.The food is excellent and we have never been disappointed with the food or service. Lovely setting, handy location (if you're driving) a few miles out of Porlock. Also reachable on foot if you're visiting Culbone Church. Gastro menu, mainly good quality food, staff very pleasant. So, what's wrong? Firstly, there's something about the severity of the layout and minimalist ambience that gives the impression of a school gym set out for exams. Try angling... More

Popped by for lunch, allows dogs so all good! Really nice atmosphere, service good. Risotto was excellent, ribs good and fish and chips too. However the sticky toffee pudding was sublime! Will be back,

My partner booked a table for early dining on Sat 22 August, as it would be a lovely end to a day's walking on Exmoor. The service, food and ambiance were all excellent, as usual. We both chose meals of the specials board, being Gammon and Wild Trout, and both dishes were enjoyed. I can also recommend the sticky toffee... More
