On our first attempt at eating in the Royal Oak, we were told no further meal orders were being taken as they were too busy (7.45 Saturday night, with empty tables visible and the bar not that full). On our next attempt (Tuesday 2pm), we were welcomed but a large party of 12 arrived immediately after us - their order... More

We have been in this place last week. Food terrible, but as it is cheap, what to expect. My dog is eating better. Staff rude. You are feel unwelcome, like an intruder. Don't go there. Better buy a bread in the shop. You will save your stomach.

This the first pub that we visited in Porlock and the young girl behind the bar was very friendly... The local Ales were pretty good too...

We popped in for a little bite to eat. The barman was excellent with our seven year old daughter, he sorted her a drink out and even offered her a choice of straw colours (often the little things go a long way). We only wanted a light lunch so we ordered 2 platters, one chicken and one seafood with a... More

Popped in for a late lunch on Sunday - about 3pm, and by then the Sunday roasts had all sold out. The menu has lots of alternative options and variety, all really great value at between £7-9 for a main on average. Staff were welcoming. Food was hot and homemade - not gourmet, but good honest homestyle pub cooking. Desserts... More

Reasonable prices, family of four came to just over £50 for starters and mains. Food was tasty and well presented and promptly served. Good selection of drinks and pleasant environment.

We had an unpleasant possibility to visit this so called restaurant/ pub. I am not usually giving such a low score, but this time I have no choice. Althought the bear was OK but the rest was less than sattisfying. We have ordered two fish & Chips, the most iconic English food which you really can mess up with. However... More
