Fast service and good food

We went into the royal oak as we had not previously visited and wanted to give them a try. We went on a Thursday which was curry night so tried the chicken tikka, which was very good. My partner isn't a fan of curries bur even she enjoyed it. We also had the garlic mushrooms for starter which... read more

We went for a meal last night. The pub was ok. We ordered the steak and ale pie and also the oak burger. The steak pie was really nice and my partner enjoyed it. However, the burger was disgusting. It was something you find from a burger van after you have been drinking all night. I complained to the waitress... More

The Oak is a very friendly olde worlde pub. It has a nice pool table and plenty of seating if you wish to eat. It was very busy when we came but we were always served promptly with a smile. The pub has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere and is obviously loved by the locals.

Have been coming to Porlock for 5 years but hadn't been in the Oak for a while. Pub has changed hands and the landlady is doing a great job. The atmosphere was very different from our last visit, in a good way. Mixture of locals and visitors. All made welcome. Good choice of beer and wine with acceptable prices. Although... More
