A great find. From the plaques on the wall, this place regularly wins "wine pub of the year" and it is clear why. There is a wonderful restaurant with great food and a varied menu. There is also a pub/bar area with real ale straight from the cask and the truly massive wine list is also available in the bar.... More

Myself and 4 friends were booked in a restaurant in Bampton but got a call the day before to say they were closed on Tuesdays. Well we were the winners as went along to Woods instead. A warm welcome friendly atmosphere, good wine and food. Well worth a visit. Looking forward to returning.

I love this place but someone was having an off day. Went here last night and I have to say the wine was lovely, great recommendations. My husband had the soup, If you had asked me what it was I could not have told you from the taste alone, it was very bland not great. I have goats cheese salad... More

We called the Woods for a drink and we received a great welcome almost as if we were locals, it was clearly a locals bar and sometimes you feel like an intruder, but not here everyone spoke and made a great fuss of our Yorkie, one guy who hadn't got a dog just pulled some gravy bones (Dog treats) out... Second visit, this time for Sunday lunch. The food is great, the atmostphere and layout of the restaurant area is welcoming and embracing, the beer is good and the general ambience a real plus. For me, the icing on the cake is the people. The staff make the difference - easy going, welcoming, engaging, and helpful. Nothing is too much... More

Ordered some drinks the best Kir my wife has had and a very good pint of... More

This restaurant will never cease to amaze me with just how good it is. Blending great food, great wine and great atmosphere delivers one of the best dining experiences on Exmoor. That man Paddy, what he doesn't know about wine isn't worth knowing. Ask him to match the wine to your food and you will be blown away.

First time here and really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and wine. The restaurant was excellent without being pretentious and had a genuine pub feel with lots of locals enjoying a beer. Service was first class.

We moved to Exmoor around 6 months ago and have visited woods now many times, it is defiantly the best place to eat in the area, the food is delicious, the ales are fantastic and local and the staff are helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is great and the pub is full of character. I would highly recommend.
