Dulverton is a lovely place in the middle of Exmoor. I had not been before, but my husband had as a child, so we stopped over on a rainy Friday in March. We were surprised to find the village busy, and looked around for somewhere to eat. Woods is near the church and as we walked up the street, we... More

We have been coming Woods for years. It's rare to find a really great place that just stays really great - but Woods does just that. Lovely people, great beer and really wonderful food. Wines are exceptional at all prices! If you are in the general area and you don't visit, then you've made a big booboo!!

The food on the 2 occasions we ate there was fantastic. The fish and chips on the second day was by far the best fish we have ever tasted and we have both travelled the world. The staff were so friendly and considerate. They were also great fun. I would highly recomend this resturant to anyone.

We went to Woods recently for lunch and I can't say it was a dreadful experience but the service we had from the mature lady that served our table was to say the least slow, she didn't concentrate on one thing at a time so we waited a good 6-7 mins for some mustard . Our steak was very well... More

Having heard a lot about this place and read a number of reviews and personal recommendations we went as a family for a birthday dinner. This is an very good restaurant, the food was beautifully cooked and presented and rightly deserves the accolades it gets , Nice vegetables and excellent puds. A super wine list and not over priced ,... More

Sunday lunch, great food and choice (not just a 'roast'), efficient and friendly service, not rushed even though we didn't arrive until 13.30, the desserts were brilliant (as was the cheese) and the beer and wine spot on. Convivial environment, plenty of room between and around the tables, and a lunchtime hubbub from the bar and adjoining restaurant...ideal. Above all,... More

We drove across the moors having to take 3 long diversions because of roadworks so were very thirsty when we arrived. We parked outside easily and noted on entrance that the bar area was full,a good sign and we were not disappointed our first beers were excellent. We were. seated in the corner by the fire. It was warm & cosy... More

The food has always been of a high standard whenever we have visited and the staff always helpful and welcoming. The wine cellar is one of the best, winning many awards. A top choice for a big night out and they allow well behaved dogs!

We go here a lot at lunchtime and we are never disappointed with the food, staff and atmosphere. However, If I had to make a criticism, it is the length of time from when the order for food is taken to the time it is served.
