Best food in NW Somerset?

Our third or fourth visit and the food was up to the high standards we've enjoyed before. Once again the puddings looked great but we were too full to order one. Possibly the best food in this part of Somerset.

I recently held a Ruby Wedding Celebration at Clavelshay for 20 people and I couldn't fault it. Sue (our hostess) was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, she was friendly and welcoming and it was all the little things that she did that made the service and day so special. She found little toy cows for my children to play... More

We were fortunate to attend an Irish themed night at Clavelshay Barn and we had a great night. The restaurant is housed in a converted barn, and whilst it is a little off the beaten track, its just a couple of miles off the A38 and our Sat Nav took us straight to the front door. The barn is nicely... More

A bit out in the country but very well worth the trip. We had a 70th wedding anniversary party here with 12 adults and two children under six. There are no steps from the car park to the lovely barn restaurant which suited the 90 year olds. Between us we had every choice on the menu and everyone was extremely... More

Dined here last week with friends for birthday celebration. I have been fortunate enough to have eaten in some wonderful restaurants and the food at Clavelshay did not disappoint me. It is certainly 'fine dining' in both taste and presentation and the chef is very talented. Front of house is equally accomplished and I would recommend it unreservedly.

We booked a family meal for 5 (it was my youngest's 18th birthday). Earlier in the day I phoned to bring forward our booking by an hour, and was told that would be fine, although they had a big wedding party at the same time there might be a bit of a wait for the food. On arrival, it was... More

You dont need to travel to specialist restaurants or pub restaurants struggling to deliver what their prices tell you you should expect when you have places like this on your doorstep. The food and service was excellent, good choices and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Its a nice 'barn' atmosphere, obviously independently run and on a summers evening or for sunday... More

5 of us had the most glorious meal here on a cold Wednesday night. My family & I are big believers of locally sourced and sustainable food and you can't really get much more local or sustainable than the delights that are prepared here. The menu changes according to season and rightly so and I have no doubt that the... More

This restaurant is the future of local food. Local sourced food, served wonderfully and thoughtfully. Highly recommend and surely has one of the best chefs around providing we eat out 2/3 nights a week!

Local produce special dinner 19 Feb 2015. Tasting menu based on local producers, mainly from Stream Farm nearby in the Quantocks. Some lovely intense flavours, modern cuisine, good company. We were invited as local producers (Oatley Vineyard, Cannington, Somerset) to a special meal at communal tables. Chef Verden did brilliantly with some lovely local ingredients. Great atmosphere. Very welcoming
