Went here Saturday, nice olde world looking pub and great food, can't comment on the Ales as I am more a Carlsberg/Carling drinker. I had the fish pie which was full of fish including a whole scallop! Plenty of veg too!

Truly is fantastic! olde-style pub which has retained all its charm. If you are looking for a modern plastic brewery managed house this is not for you! Delicious food ... good choice of ales and ciders. We had a great night thank you :-)

We went for a meal after working up an appetite walking up the Burrow Mump. The menu may not be extensive, but it's quality not quantity that wins the day. I had the beef and Butcombe pie with hand cut chips and a side of vegetables, the better half had the rump steak with the chips and a side order... More

Had a free day and decided to explore some of the Somerset Levels, climbed Burrow Mump close to the pub and continued walking around five and a half miles back to The King Alfred Inn. Mine was a pint, friend was driving we both chose fish and chips promptly served great value at £5! Strongly recommended.

Had fabulous lunch today...steak and ale pie and fish pie were both delicious and the £5 menu is an absolute bargain. Excellent staff gave us a warm welcome and food served up quickly and with care. A terrific pub thanks for a lovely lunch.

Daily specials ( using local produce) combined with relaxed and friendly atmosphere, makes for a winning combination. The added bonus is that it is also dog friendly! Recommend the fish pie, crammed with seafood and full of flavour.

Four of us had a lovely meal sitting in the upstairs dining room of this historic pub. The food was very good value and there was lots of it. The young people who served us were very polite and the food came at a reasonable speed. It's a local pub so plenty of atmosphere and you can always walk off... More

Called in The King Alfred after a day out in Somerset while on holiday. We received a lovely welcome from the staff behind the bar along with a cold pint of Carlsberg. Both our starters and main course were excellent and we noticed that the people next to us also had a wonderful meal. We called in the next day... More

No pretentions here, just a very good locals pub with honest good value food. I have been several times its always busy. The Landlord/Lady have got it just right. This place was in the midst of the 2014 flooded area in the Somerset Levels

Excellent home cooked food at bargain prices... Tues - sat lunch for only £5! Quality you would pay twice the price for elsewhere .. Sunday lunch the best in area . Make sure you book to avoid disappointment . Also £5 meal available on Wednesday nights.. The food at the price is unbelievable!! A la carte menu available other evenings... More
