We visited for Sunday lunch but hadn't booked a table. They were expecting a large party in but the barmaid found us a table. The lunch menu was limited but we only wanted the roast dinner which was fine. We chose beef and it was lovely, which came with enough veg for me as I have a smaller appetite. Someone... More

Staying at my sister's place in nearby Nantmawr, we visited the Royal Oak for a Sunday dinner on 12th January 2014. I'm not a big fan of 'traditional' meat and two veg, much preferring continental or exotic cuisine. I also don't like massive portions. There was a limited Sunday dinner menu but this sufficed for our party of 4. I... More

We ate here last night after a walk, so we were certainly ready for a tasty filling meal. The menu is quite extensive, All the usual options and more, but a single Veggie main (stir fry without chicken) which wasn't available. Still my wife had cauliflower and stilton soup and creamy mushrooms on toast and I had the "large" fish... More

We visited the Royal Oak on 28th Jan 2013, it has been recently refurbished, a huge improvement on our previous visit early last year. The owners where fabulous, so accommodating, Nothing was too much trouble, the food was fresh and delicious, my husband had the mixed grill which had a lovely big steak on, descent portions at a reasonable price.... The landlady was lovely and the food was. Good. However it was very cold and there was no atmosphere. The decor doesn't help- cream and mint green- defining the dining part of the bar with warm red would help.
