Proper Pub Food...finally!

Came here with a couple of work colleagues after a long Open Day and was very pleasantly surprised. This is a proper, authentic pub with great wine and fab food. All of our portions were generous ( Caesar Salad with chicken and bacon, pork roast dinner and carbonara) and all very reasonably priced... read more

We decided to book a table at the Queen's Head this Sunday for their roast, with a party of four. However, when we were seated and given the menus, there was no mention of any Sunday roast, disregarding what was mentioned online on their website. So we chose from the menu with one meal from the specials board. After waiting... More

We decided to try this pub after shopping in Oswestry, the first thing I noticed when I entered the pub was an unpleasant musty smell, we decided to sit in the conservatory and asked for a high chair for my youngest, the chair that was provided was disgusting, it was dirty, old and the back of the chair was reclined... Oh, the gluten free food! I wanted to eat more then I could possibly fit in just because it all looked sooooooo good. I could not resist having gluten free onion rings (which I refused to share) and even some pork scratchings to start, then the marvellous payella which even had clams in as well (very authentic!) and finally the... Fancying good pub grub I decided on the Queen' Head at Oswestry. On arrival my pre ordered table was ready. The staff very polite and accommodating! I was spoilt for choice as plenty of options to suit everyone. I even noticed gluten free meals. I opted for the whole grilled dover sole with new potatoes and vegetables. My daughter had... More

We have been visiting The Queens Head regularly for the last 2 years. The restaurant being ideally situated for our journey between London and North Wales. Popped in for Sunday lunch ....they managed to find us a table fairly quickly. Service and food (two courses) were very good, tasty and cooked just how I like it. Two drinks and two courses for two cost us £33.00.....a fairly good price. Could do with a little freshening up decor wise but that shouldn't put you off going here.... More

Just back from another delicious meal at The Queens Head. The restaurant was very busy for a Tuesday evening but the friendly staff found us a table and were polite and efficient throughout. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. I had a steak which was truly melt in the mouth & cooked to perfection. My friend had the... More

My girlfriend and I stopped off here for some lunch on the way to Snowdonia. It was ideally located about 15 seconds off the A5. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and amazing value. I am very glad we stopped off at The Queens Head and would visit again if going in the same direction.

We ate at The Queens Head one evening whilst staying in a cottage nearby and was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food. The menu was interesting, with many specials also available, and all priced very reasonably - even more so when you appreciate the quality. I had the rump steak and it was one of the best... More
